Reputable Bangkok sapphire dealers

Hello looking for the names of a few reputable Bangkok stores to buy a blue sapphire from, 2-4k budget. Need a non-diamond engagement ring and my parents are headed there soon. Any advice welcome, I've been lurking on your forum a few weeks and have learned *tons* (thanks!).

Ditto to the above. Doesn't matter whether the dealer is reputable or not, without in-depth gem knowledge, they will not understand what to avoid / look out for.

I don't know if I would buy as a novice or spend a significant amount of money in Thailand. Even pros get duped.

Well that seems pretty unanimous, and here I thought I was going to beat the system... Can anyone recommend a good place to see more than a couple sapphires at once in Kansas City or St. Louis? The local jewelry stores (i.e. Tivol) suck! I've been eyeing (okay eye%$#@ing) an untreated Montana on Gemfix (Andrew Gulij). I wish I could view some stones up close - even a nice internet photo gallery might help me out. Thanks again for all your help, I promise a picture for your troubles, when I finally score a stone.

Jeff Davies is in Thailand, you can see what he has available on his website, and his Facebook page - he has had some nice sapphires, you could also check out what MasterCut gems (Dana) has - he is in Georgia.

ephsea, why don't you head to a local gem show? If you google it, I'm sure you'll find one of the gem show organizations comes to your area. Google "Intergem" and see what you get. If that fails, then I would just google "gem shows" + "St. Louis" and see what hits you get. There has GOT to be something in your area...

Have you tried gemagents.com?
i actually found them through instagram, but anyway went to their site and filled out the form. i wanted a top quality pear shape tanzanite, and they came in almost half the price of my local jeweler. i am waiting for the stone to arrive, but so far everything seems great.
