Resetting an oval? Ideas please...

Hi,

I just registered, although I have been browsing for some time. I have an oval that is 1.07 carats, G in color and I1 in clarity. It is a beautiful diamond despite it being I1, no black spots or carbon spots, only a white feather that I don't see unless I take a pic and zoom in greatly. So I have decided to keep it and not replace like I originally wanted to. Anyway, I originally had a yellow gold setting that I don't prefer and I changed it into a white gold pendant because I never wore it. Now I am thinking that I want to reset it into a ring, but I have no clue where to start...vendors, etc. I know I want a white metal, gold or platinum and I don't like too high a profile. I also would like a daintier band. My original yellow gold band was kind of thick. My ring size is a 4. I am sorry if this is vague, but I just would like some suggestions on what your ladies think. would you consider setting it e/w? something a bit more modern and unique? a three stone with half moons? something really classic?

I hadn't considered an e/w setting. That is an interesting idea. I looked at some pics and I think I would like that. Although, I am not too sure of a three stone. Thanks for the suggestion. It is really helpful so I know what type of pics to search for.

if it were me, and i was looking for something classic, id get a cartier inspired setting, i think it would be stunning normal NW or EW. such a slender hand could totally pull of EW if you thought it would be cool

Your stone looks so large for a 1ct!! I'm all about the e/w thing right now, so that gets my vote, but I would set it in super dainty pave shank.

I think that it would be beautiful with your oval. Is this for a RHR? How you thought about adding colored side stones? I know that you said that you weren't interested in a three stone though..

I will wear it as my wedding set. I do think sapphire baguettes, not too large would be great with an east west set oval. I really love blue.

That is a huge oval. And so tastefully done though. I didn't know a thing about diamonds either when I got this one.

I really appreciate all the suggestions. I have decided not to put the diamond back into a ring. My main consideration is that I really would like an upgrade. I talked to hubby about it and he doesn't want me to get rid of this diamond, but isn't opposed to an upgrade. I went back and forth between selling and upgrading and keeping. I kept changing my mind. I finally decided that I would put it into a bracelet since I have an everyday necklace with a pearl pendant that I love and wear all the time, and I won't sell a diamond that hubby clearly wants me to keep for sentimentality. So I did some research on here and shipped my diamond out to Brian Gavin and I am going to put it into a white gold bracelet with a double chain. I checked tracking and they signed for my package today, so I am very excited. I still want to get an upgrade diamond/ring. I am thinking a 1.5 to 1.8 round. I would probably get started on this sometime after the new year as I am having a baby and that takes some budget right now. But very happy that I finally made a decision and I will post pics when I get the bracelet. Thanks again.
