Hi, I had an unfortunate outcome on my first ring design and would really appreciate if anyone could take a look and provide any advice/feedback - trying to get it as close to the Tiffany ring as possible.

Ring size approx 7.5-8, 1.3 carat. Unfortunately the first ring that was made was very off (on the right) - next to Tiffany 1.02 carat approx size 6 (on the left) for comparison

They initially said it was virtually the same as a Tiffany/only different because it was a larger diamond, but agreed to redo it to how we would prefer it and asked us for feedback on the new CAD.

I'm struggling to visualise well and feeling anxious about making sure it comes out well this time. Some of my initial thoughts and qns:
  1. I feel like something looks off with the donut but I don't know how to explain this - like it looks a little straight/narrow? or is that normal on the CAD?
  2. Not sure if it's just me but the "taper" (sorry I don't know what it's called- slope of the top half of the band) also seems a bit rounded/more circular than the tiffany ring. I really like the sharper/sloped looking taper of the tiffany ring, but which part of the ring/measurement adjustment contributes to that? Are there known measurements for this?
  3. Do the prongs look ok? The prongs seemed "bulky" before - they are straighter now in the CAD, but it's hard for me to tell if it's ok since prongs look different on CADs
  4. Also.. why does the Tiffany band look brighter in the above when they are both platinum?

Any thoughts/feedback would be super appreciated, thank you so much for reading this far!

No one will make the Tiffany ring exactly like the Tiffany ring. The Vatche U-113 is pretty close. Perhaps you could use their example to give your jeweler some guidance. If I wanted a close replica, I would just buy the Vatche setting and have your diamond set in it.
As for their platinum, ask the jeweler what alloy he is using with the platinum. That will probably be the answer to the color difference.

I agree; Tiffany has the *mark* for this design, which sets them apart from the competition. Going with the Vatche is probably the best option, as this jeweler is missing the mark for you, and causing more stress than this process is worth.
Designing and creating bespoke/custom pieces should be an exciting and fun process.
Take a look at the Vatche and see if that hits the mark for you.

I totally agree and wish I had, but I didn’t initially because I’m very far overseas and thought a local process would be ideal. Sadly it is non refundable and we went with this jeweller as they expressed confidence they knew exactly what it was like and could replicate it (I probably should have hesitated here). I assumed it would be stress free until I got the ring back! To be fair they are very lovely and have excellent reviews, just yes it did unexpectedly miss the mark.
