Hi girls. I thought this would be fun...
1) what metal do you want your ring to be? Platinum, white gold, or yellow gold?
2) What is your preferred carat size of your ring?
3) What cut do you want your diamond to be?
4) Did you tell your boyfriend what kind of ring you want, or is he picking one on his own without your input?
5) Does your boyfriend know your ring size?
6) is your ring going to come from a jewelry store, or will it be ordered online?

My answers:
1) I want platinum or yellow gold, no white gold!
2) I would like .75 to 1 carat
3) round brilliant or cushion
4) boyfriend will pick the ring on his own
5) boyfriend knows my ring size from other rings he's bought me
6) most likely it will come from a jewelry store

1) Platinum, white gold
2) 1.0 -1.3ct
3) Cushion brilliant
4) I told him what I like and provided pics
5) He knows my ring size 1s 7
6) I think it will be a custom job

Laila: So fun!

1. I would have preferred palladium but my ring was not available in palladium so we splurged for platinum.
2. Preferred carat size is between half and 3/4, we went with 3/4.
3. I originally wanted cushion but went with RB.
4. We picked it out together, which I had to talk him into (I was nervous that he would bring home some hideous two-tone Zales-style ring that I''d have to wear for the rest of life for fear of offending him).
5. I brought it up a couple of times when we first started looking.
6. We ordered my ring from a store out-of-state where neither of us had been. We had seen it at another store and then I called around to different dealers of that designer''s wares and found the one with the best price, and had them ship it. And we ordered the diamond off of (
6.gif
) Amazon. And it''s beeeyootiful.

1. white gold or platinum
2. 1-2 cts. 2 is on the I WISH side but his comments lately are making me think that I am going to get something really close to 2 which I would be ECSTATIC about, but am so not expecting.
3. ROUND
4. I picked out the style with him
5. Yes-but I tried on a ring .25 sizes bigger the other day while out shopping and it was TIGHT-so I''m a little nervous now.
6. Custom job from a jewelry store I think (there''s a ''master plan'' that I can''t know anything about until after I get it)

Fun Thread!!!

Well I''m already engaged, but I still want to play!

1) Deep down I really wanted platinum but thought it would be out of our price range, so I told FI I would be happy with white gold (which I really would have been). He decided, all on his own, that I would get nothing short of platinum even though he had to go over-budget to get it.

2) I wanted .75 - 1ct, and ended up with .82.

3) Before we started shopping I REALLY wanted a princess cut. Then when we went out and tried things on, we found that RB''s looked SO much more elegant on my finger. So then I wanted and got a RB.

4) We looked at them together and then decided to go custom because nothing was "speaking" to me the way I wanted.

5) Yes, he was there with me when I got it correctly measured.

6) We ordered through Whiteflash.

I''ll play!

1. I wanted either white gold or platinum, but since platinum is too expensive for our college student budget we went for the white gold

2. HUGE! lol literally as big as possible *drool*, but we decided on a lovely .53 carat stone

3. I always wanted a round brilliant because they''re classic, but now that i''ve been on PS for almost a year i''m really liking the fancy cuts for any rhr''s!
27.gif
, my engagement stones are three round brilliants

4. I had a folder of rings flagged on the knot and he pointed one out, and that was my favorite too, so we sort of picked it together. Ajaffe ME1279

5. Yep, he took me to get sized when we looked at the ring in person to see if I still liked it, ring size 5 1/4

6. He''s buying it from one of Atlanta''s best kept secrets, amazing diamonds for amazing prices. Wheee (jewelry store btw)

1)Never had platinum before but am open to the option..So that or white gold
2).50-.80 (never really worn big jewelry and am afraid id chip a bigger stone
32.gif
)
3)Originally princess, Def liking RB''s now!
4)It will be a dual decision, must have his approval tho. (hes pickier then me!!!)
5)Yup, we were ring shopping when we found out
6)Hopefully an online vendor but i will have to wait an see!

This was fun!
9.gif

1) Definitely white gold
2) It is already decided- 2.25 ct
3) It will be round
4) He had minimal input -- he knows what I like enough to pick out something I''ll love.
5) Yes -- ish. LoL. I should get resized...
6) Jewelry store that my family has bought from before.

1) Platinum or maybe palladium (I''m allergic to most metals)
2) 1 to 1.2 (anything bigger looks huge...I''m a 3.75 ring size!)
3) I originally told him radiant, but now I want cushion...don''t know what I''ll end up getting
4) He asked for ideas so I told him. He took me ring shopping, so he knows what I want.
5) Yup...I had it sized twice just to make sure
6) I have no idea! He''s told me he knows where he''s getting it from even after we did online research.

One question I''m adding on...7) If you could pick, when would you have him propose?
Answer: Either in the next couple of weeks OR when we have our trip to New York and to Niagara Falls

1. Platinum or White Gold
2. 3/4 to 1 ct.
3. Asscher or maybe a fat little emerald I love the simplicity of the step cuts.
30.gif

4. He wants to surprise me and wouldn''t let me give him any hints but we did *happen* to be in a B&M last weekend and he asked a few questions. I''m pretty sure he''s going the solitaire route.
5. No he actually doesn''t but my sister does hopefully he''ll ask her, but I wear a 5.75 or a 6 which is what almost every B&M ring is around here and solitaires are easy to re-size anyway.
6. I''m guessing he''ll go to a B&M but there''s an outside chance he will ask his sister''s FI for help buying on-line to get a good deal. His FBIL is awesome at finding a great deal on-line and did an awesome job buying the e-ring for my SO''s sister.
7. Anytime I''m just happy that it''s going to happen. Although we both agree it needs to happen before my lease is up in August.

Fun!
1.gif

1. I would like my ring to be platinum. White gold would be ok, but I will probably be getting my ring from either MWM or Leon and they both really only work in plat, so that''s fine.
2. Preferred carat size would be a bit bigger than what I''m betting we will be able to afford. My ring size is big (8.75 or 9), so I think a 1.25 would be perfect, but I don''t know that we''ll be able to swing that.
3. Ideal cut, of course! If you mean shape, then round.
2.gif

4. Oh hells yeah I told him what I want! He didn''t even think I''d need an engagement ring at all in the beginning!
6.gif

5. Yes, he knows my ring size. He''s bought me two rings already (one with 5 little princess diamonds in white gold, and one aquamarine and diamond ring in white gold).
6. Online. I will probably get my stone from either GOG or WF, and then send it off to one of those two jewelers to have it set.
9.gif

Yay! This is more like it Laila!!!
31.gif

Give me a few to gather my thoughts and I will be back!
9.gif

Okay, I am back and ready to answer!

9.gif

1.) I think, more like, I am certain I want platinum. I love white gold but I just love the icy sparkle that platinum radiates…for an engagement ring anyway.

2.) This is where I am a little pain in the ass. I would LOVE 2cts. I mean LOVE LOVE LOVE!
30.gif
However, I am more inclined to think I will get something in the area of 1.2 – 1.6. His sister got a GORGEOUS 1.7 RB two years ago, with the help of their mother’s diamond knowledge and input. So if his mama has anything to do with the purchasing of my ring, I know it will be gorgeous. Plus I am 5’10 and have long fingers, so bigger is better in my case!
31.gif

3.) I just love RB. I love the cushion and princess but RB is so classic and my style has always been simple and classic, to the fullest.

4.) NOPE. This is a problem because ladies, I never wear rings! I am holding out for the two rings I will likely ever wear. I’m just not a ring person. So, this might get tricky. I think if I just randomly start wearing a ring, for him to check the size, he will know what I am up to. Any ideas? ** I just realized I don't even know what size I am!

5.) It will likely come from a store in the Diamond District since BF works in Manhattan and his mother always buys her diamonds there- Yay for FMILs who love diamonds!!!
36.gif

Oooh, fun!

1. Plat or WG
2. I''m not real picky but ideally at least .5
3. I like the RB and the Cushion - but I don''t think my bf has ever even heard of cushion!
4. Well he is picking it out on his own (I think he already has) but we have looked at rings and he knows what style I like. Thank God - we looked at rings online once and I asked him to point out which ring he liked the best before I told him what I liked. He chose the ring on the page that I liked the absolute least! We have totally different ring styles!
5. Yup - 5.
6. I think he got it from his fave jeweler, but I think he may have done a little customizing.

1. Platinum or white gold
2. 1.0 to 1.75--he saw the 1/2 ct from my first husband, so I know he''ll do at least twice that (boys are so competitive!).
3. I''m leaning toward Princess, but I''m also thinking about Round Brilliant for the sparkle factor!
4. He says he wouldn''t pick it out without my help, but I hear he''s been looking on his own
5. Heck, I don''t think I even know my ring size right now
6. I''m pretty sure it''ll come from a store, he''s not as fond of online shopping as I am
9.gif

1) White gold is what I prefer
2) We''ve been looking at stones around the .75 range
3) I absolutly want a cushion cut!
4) He knows what I would love for it to resemble, what settings I like best, etc.. I showed him pictures and tried on quite a few
5) Yep, he knows my size from other rings he has purchased for me
6) We''ve been looking a lot at good old gold, so I am pretty sure that is where he will order from

1) White gold! I''d rather put the extra dough into the stone, thanks.
2.gif

2) Preferred? 1. Probable? 5. - .7. And it''s cool.
1.gif

3) Cushion!
4) I picked out everything for it. I''m teaching him about it when he feels interested, but he''s staying out of it for the most part. Good man, knows my control disease. Ha!
5) Nope, but neither do I, so...
6) The stone will be from online, but the setting will come from a local store (gljw.com)

et voila...

Sunnyd - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the ring!
30.gif

1: I was fine with either white gold or Plat. (my ring is WG tho)
2: I wanted something small because of my job (work in a kennel selling puppies) and cuz I have fairly small
fingers, long and thin, size 5 (ended up seeing and falling in LOVE with an atique ring thats set with a 1.25, and
thats what he baught, just hasnt proposed yet)
3: As far as cut, originally i thought i wanted a princess. LOVED them and still do. But when it came to trying
things on to get an idea of what i wanted...it just wasnt flattering on me (my ring is a round)
4: Originally we decided together that a 3 stone ring would be fairly low set and safe with my job. So we were
going for a diamond center and sapphire sides. We looked at differant styles and settings together to get ideas
and point out things we BOTH liked and then he was going to make the FINAL decision and suprise me (but
THAT went out the window COMPLETELY when i saw the
antique ring in the window)
5: Yes he knows my ring size. Originally I told him 5 1/2 cuz thats what another ring i wore on that finger was.
Then while in a store trying on rings we both decided to get sized. And actually Im a 5. The 5 1/2 fit but
would spin sometimes. The 5 makes it a bit more fitting and takes away the spin.
6: My ring is from a store but not quite a jewelery store persay. It came from a collectables shop in our town
whom also sells preowned jewelery. My ring happened to belong to the store owners wofe who had passed
away.
7: I could care less WHERE or EXACTLY when he proposses...thats ALL HIM! I just want him to be happy and comfortable and I will be EXSTATIC that our lives together will be OFFICIALLY starting! As to WHEN...naturally i hope GIRL SOON lol.

1. Platinum! Although I do love yellow gold, too. I think it looks so classic.
2. 2.5-3 carats. He bought the diamond already, which is right in the middle.
3. RB, baby! I''m a sparkle fanatic. Though I also love cushions.
30.gif

4. I''ll make a suggestion and leave the rest up to him. I''m just saying two words: delicate halo!
5. Yes, he knows! It''s 4.5...
6. It''s set right now in a platinum solitaire setting but we''re planning on having Leon design a new setting.

3) round brilliant or cushion
4) boyfriend will pick the ring on his own
5) boyfriend knows my ring size from other rings he''s bought me
6) most likely it will come from a jewelry store
1) Platinm or white gold (but while gold made of a stonger alloy that will prevent fading and bending)
2) 1 - 1.6 carats
3) RB - they are the most sparkly!!!
4) Yes we did a lot of shopping together but he has the ultimate last say.
5) Yes
6) It will come from a reputable jeweler in town...

1) White gold
2) I would like .75 to 1 carat
3) Round brilliant
4) I am pretty sure BF will pick out the ring on his own - I think he really wants to surprise me (little scared about this
1.gif
)
5) I doubt he knows - but I did try to drop a hint with a Smyth ring size coaster
6) Since BF never buys any gifts from a store I am positive it will come from an online vendor.

Very fun!

Thanks just me and bliss! Can you believe that pic is from overstock.com?! Of course I wouldn't buy it from there (it was 5cts and $199,999) but it's the perfect head on inspiration pic!

I like this thread!

1) I''m a white gold girl, but wouldn''t mind platinum!

2) For carat size, I''d like between .75-1.0 (I''d love 1.0 though
31.gif
)

3) Round Brilliant or Cushion

4) He knows exactly what I want (emails everyday help with that lmao!) MUST HAVE HALO! lol! But I''m not allowed to know anything
8.gif

5) He tries to be slick and always asks to see my right hand ring and looks to see which finger it fits on lmao! But he can always ask my mom!!!

6) Probably a store, but I have noooo clue!

After some thought, here are my answers:

1) White gold. I like the silver look
2) I prefer 1.5, but my BF thinks a 1 is big. It will probably be in the middle.
3) Princess or Asscher
4) I''ve shown him what I like and I always point out what I don''t like.
5) Yes, he knows my ring size even though I can''t remember exactly now. I had told him it was a 7 and to be sure I got fitted when we were walking around the mall, and it was a 4 or a 4.5. I was waaay off!
6) We have a special jewelry store in the fancy part of our town that''s been there for 100+ years. I would bet money he goes there, since it has such a fantastic reputation.

May I answer even though I''m already married?

1) what metal do you want your ring to be? Platinum, white gold, or yellow gold?
Some white metal. Probably platinum because I love the patina.

2) What is your preferred carat size of your ring?
At one point, with a previous boyfriend, I tried on a 3/4 carat oval. Loved it! I''d also like a 1-2 carat OEC and cushion. There are too many rings and stones to just pick one.

3) What cut do you want your diamond to be?
Right now? OEC. But before that I had an obsession with pears, then asschers, then cushions, then OECs. I think probably a cushion or OEC for the long term.

4) Did you tell your boyfriend what kind of ring you want, or is he picking one on his own without your input?
I chose it but with his input so some compromises were made.

5) Does your boyfriend know your ring size?
Yes, he always has known because I like rings and earrings a bit much!

6) is your ring going to come from a jewelry store, or will it be ordered online?
It was ordered online.

Sorry to crash your girls only party ... might be a nice addition.

1) what metal do you want your ring to be? Platinum, white gold, or yellow gold?
- She wants anything but yellow gold. Will get White gold/palladium.
2) What is your preferred carat size of your ring?
- We have not talked about it. She has fairly big hands/long fingers but does not like stones (in general) that are too big. Will get a 1 carat center with 2 side stones.
3) What cut do you want your diamond to be?
- She does not like round ones. Will get a rectangular radiant.
4) Did you tell your boyfriend what kind of ring you want, or is he picking one on his own without your input?
- I picked it without any input. She is not even thinking about a ring.
5) Does your boyfriend know your ring size?
- Got to measure her own rings - so yes, I know the size (7)
6) is your ring going to come from a jewelry store, or will it be ordered online?
- Designed it myself and had it custom-made by a goldsmith.
7) If you could pick, when would you have him propose?
- I will propose next year, at least that is the plan (may be earlier)

Rob, good addition with question number 7!

ETA: Oops!! It appears it was Laine who added on question number 7.
