My fiance has a platinum cathedral solitare mounting for her ring that looks much like the one below. Look at the side profile. It would be the portion of the ring that sits on the top of her finger. Its the thinnest part of the ring. The bridge on which the prongs sit is a bit too thin which caused her to bend the ring the other day. I showed this too my Jeweler and he said there is no way to thicken this part of the ring and that we would have to get a whole new mounting. Does anyone know if it is possible to add platinum or platinum solder to this portion of the ring without it looking off??

Is it possible? Sure. Almost anything is possible. The problem is that there are lots of issues at play and it may end up being less expensive to replace the whole ring than to pay the jeweler to retrofit the existing one. This is decidedly not a 'basic repair'.

Did the jeweler have a proposed solution?

Yes,
He said the only thing you can do is replace the mounting. I am going to bring it back to the original place I bought it(not the jeweler I spoke of) and see if they can do anything.
