Hi all:

Been lurking a few days, but first time poster! I''m very interested in having my local jeweler make me a "custom" rolling ring. (Aka trinity ring, etc.)

I generally wear yellow gold, and thought it might be nice to have two rings be yellow gold, and one ring white. On the white ring, I wanted to get a few diamonds in it. I''d primarily wear this ring on my right hand, but also wear it on my wedding ring finger on the weekends if I wanted something simple. Here are a few questions:

1) I like rolling rings, but are there any "cons" or negatives that I should consider before buying one?
2) how many diamonds on the white band would make an impact? how should they be set into the ring?
3) any other suggestions would be great!

Looking forward to your responses!

I have a silver one that was extremely inexpensive, but I''ll give you my perspective!

The only cons I can think of are:

1) I''m always taking it off and playing with it
2) If you need it sized, you have to have three rings sized

otherwise it is a great style, very comfortable!

Check out rollingring.com. They have a couple of different versions with diamonds.

I bought a tri-color generic rolling ring about 6 months ago as an alternative wedding band and just a few weeks ago bought a plain 4mm stainless steel band as another alternative. I prefer the plain band to the rolling ring (though I still wear the rolling ring on my right hand!) and this is why:

1. The plain band is more comfortable. The rolling ring isn''t uncomfortable, but it''s a bit bulky and hurts when I make a fist or grip something hard.
2. The rolling ring apparently looks more like a fashion ring to people (though it IS a wedding band), so when I wear it alone I sometimes get the "Oh, I didn''t realize you''re married" line. It doesn''t happen when I pair the rolling ring with my half eternity, but my coworkers tease that I wear my rolling ring when I want to "be single".
3. I wanted a simple band that I could leave on all the time--I can''t do that with the rolling ring. If I put on lotion, work in the yard, etc., stuff gets caught between the bands.

Another funny thing I''ve noticed is that people sometimes ask me what the ring is made out of and I say "three kinds of gold" and every time the person says "Oh, I thought it was gold, silver and copper". This has happened to me at least 5 times, haha. Not a con at all, just a funny observation.

I''d say you need at least 8 diamonds on the white gold band to make a visual impact. A long time ago I wanted to buy a trinity band from Cartier with diamonds in it. The Trinity One looked great--it''s the one with pave on the white gold band. The band was really expensive so I wanted to consider the Trinity Star instead--that''s the one with scattered diamonds on each band. The problem was that I could BARELY see any of the diamonds and I hated spending so much more for that one as opposed to the plain Trinity without diamonds. I don''t know how many diamonds are on the Trinity Star, but I''d probalby go with more.

I have a Cartier trinity ring and I love it. I can''t really see any negatives to owning one. They are really beautiful.

I used to have a gold one and I was ALWAYS playing with it, lol. Now that you mention it, I miss playing with it!

I have the same ring with the scattered diamonds. I wear it as a RHR. No one mistakes the rose gold band for copper, so you might want to keep this in mind. The diamonds are burnish set into the bands and there are five diamonds in each band.

Hi there!

I have the Cartier Trinity. While I enjoy wearing it overall my only knock against it is--- it has to be fitted a certain way on my finger in order for it to feel comfortable. I find myself fixing it often. Other than that it''s great! Enjoy your new piece!

I also have the Cartier one and I agree that you need to fit it in a certain way to feel comfortable. But as long as I put it on correctly initially I have no problems with it throughout the day. If I put on correctly it feels very comfortable.
