I realize that the number of threads about this ring style is already numerous but I can''t find the answer that I need.

I am considering getting one from rolling ring as the cartier name just isn''t worth the money to me. Not to mention I have 300 in Christmas money just burning a hole in my wallet!

I only wear white gold although I still have a few pieces of yellow gold jewelry. I can''t decide between the tri color or a all white gold ring.

My question is how does the white in the tri colored one or an all white one look after a couple of years of wearing. I know that the plating on white gold jewelry wears off leaving a soft yellow hue to the white. Can you / would you re-plate the white on either version?

Thanks

Come on people throw me a bone.

If you only knew the horrible day I''ve had. Hey make something up....how would I know the differerece?

Hasn''t someone bought a used one? How did it look?

I''m not sure I fully understand what you''re asking... how the white gold fares on the tri-color version VERSUS the all-white version, or just in general? And on specifically the cartier piece, or ANY rolling ring? And on a rolling ring as compared any old white gold ring, or just how white gold performs?

I''ve only had my RR since October, so I can''t exactly tell you how it "stands the test of time." I would think that it would wear the same as any WG ring, though perhaps some plating would be slowly scratched off if you roll it a lot (I don''t, personally). As for replating... that''s your own personal preference. Some people prefer a broken-in/worn look, some prefer a shiny/new/freshly-plated look.

Sorry if that doesn''t answer your question, but I''m not quite sure what it is you''re looking for...

I''d go for the tricolor, mainly because I think it''s gorgeous and it''s next on my list!

Ditto, I love my tri-color. Part of that is that I see the cheapie silver versions everywhere, and I associate the tri-color with a real quality piece (silly, I know).

Thanks for the replies. I think I will do the tri colored since I have a wide white gold ring already.

I would guess even after the plating wears off the tri would still look like three colors as the white will still be lighter than the yellow.

And as for my terrible day .... adoption can be very bumpy road. Nothing to do but hang on for dear life!

Do the tri-color! I have one from Cartier and I love it! Just last year, when I noticed that all three seem to be begging for a repolish, I took them to my jeweler instead and had her plate the YG band in YG, rhodium dip the WG and buff the rose gold. It turned out beautifully for me and now the 3 bands are distinctly 3 colors again! Its been over 6 months of really rough wear almost everyday and they still look great (I wear them on my right hand).

Good luck!
