That is the question....I am probably going to go with the U prong silver double claw setting by Daniel M to set my pink tourmaline :appl: Now here is my problem should I use rose gold for the "head" I cant decide to go with rose gold/silver or all silver...what do you all think? it is a 6.8mm cut by Barry.

here is a really crappy picture of the stone:

Yes to rose! I'm sure you all are sick of me posting my ring but I want to drive home the point that it's a pretty combination!angle.jpg

Here's another one in silver and RG where the stone is a bit closer in color to yours.

Rose gold yes! I think it would prop up the pink in the stone nicely.

Kelpie, we could never get sick of that stunning ring

Arcadian, I agree, I think it will enhance the pink.

I just love the rose gold/silver combination, but I was afraid the stone would get lost in the setting a friend told me thats what she thought....but I personally think it will enhance it, the stone is actually more pink like the picture on my big fat hand, so I think it will work.

I am leaning strongly toward the rose gold/silver :lickout:

If you have something in your home around the same color...say a penny, then put it next to the stone to see what it looks like. It would of course have to be a nice new shiny penny. Rose gold though can be different from each vendor but at the very least you get a better idea before you commit. (i admit, i'm still in the rose gold corner though  )

I actually have a rose gold ring and I have one of Brian Garvin's rose gold pin's, so I do love rose gold

I vote yes to the rose gold!

rose gold for sure!

Another vote for rose gold. It would bring out the color of the stone so well. Nice one!

Thank you everyone, you all confirmed what I knew all along, rose gold and silver it is :appl: I will have to get with them and get the ball rolling I guess it will take around 4 weeks to get it done, that will be real close to my anniversary, so happy anniversary to me!!!

Rose gold please!!

A little late, but count me in the rose gold camp too. I have a rhodolite garnet of similar color set in rose gold, and I think it looks fantastic.

I loooove rose gold so there's where my vote goes :D

Kelpie, those rings look absolutely fantastic

Rose gold is nice but real roses can be so lovely if someone would give me one.

I vote definitely yes to rose gold!

Thanks everyone, I am going to put my order in by the end of this week (after I get paid lol) :appl: I will share the ring once they get it done, I am excited about this, I have had the stone for some time and wasnt sure what to do with it as the price of gold is really high, so this is a nice way to have my cake and eat it to, lol.

Sorry I'm late to this thread but whenever I see the "shall I use rose gold" question I want to scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

However, even as the forum rose gold hater, I have to say that there are some gems that really work well with rose gold and yours is one of them. Just before you think I'm running a fever and have gone delirious, I need to add that the colour of the rose gold will be critical. If it's too yellow/copper it may look very wrong so I'd insist on having a much more delicate rose gold.

I think, looking at your photos - and assuming they're a fair representation of the colour you see, white gold/white metal of any sort might make the gem look very cold and icy so I think you're 100% right in the direction your thinking of.

You watch, TL will be along now to faint (it's a running joke between us about my rose gold aversion)! :D
