Rounded appearance

Got photos of my ring and the edges seem more rounded/less sharp than the ring it was based on. The vendor tells me that the one it was based on is just a rendering, not an actual photo, so i just wanted to confirm whether that is a limitation of cast rings, or just rings in general with the finishing process.

here are some images..

note: the left prong in first image seems like inconsistent width (wide at bottom). maybe that is just the reflection

in the second image, (right-most photo) you can see the top gallery rail looks thicker and like the edges are rounded, there the prongs meet the bottom gallery rail doesn't look very defined.

Hi Flamingoezz,

Yes, some rounding is expected in the finishing process, and in fact CAD pieces are designed slightly bulkier to compensate for this fact. Refinement during finishing is expected and desired, as it makes a piece look less blocky and more comfortable to wear.

I think your ring looks great! I think some of your concerns are based on a slightly angled view of the piece and, I think when you see the ring in person the variations you're looking for won't be evident. Keep in mind the photos are really magnified.

I think whiteflash have doen a realy nice job of the basket, and that your version of the ring looks even better than the original.

I'd have to agree with HopeDream and say that I think that the basket looks better than the original. I know you were really looking for flow, and I think the integration of the basket turned out great!

I think you need to wait and see it in person. Its really easy to over analyze these blown up shots. I think the lighting and
reflection make it difficult to see things the way they really are.

Honestly, I think your setting is quite beautiful.
