nice to read from you, and thankyou..i just feel the same as you towards diana..what a lovely woman with just a great spirit! it finally hit me about her ring..you know i did my little size compparisson before.. to prove it''s true size....i just couldn''t imagine anyone thinking it was an 18 carat stone...and i didn''t know why the fibs were out there..but then, just a little while ago it hit me! in all of the mentionings of her stone being that large, it all originated from one article i would imagine and like a game of telephone, where things change slightly every time the story is told, the description got more inaccurate, and here''s why...in the first description to the public, it may have been accurate, and the 18 KARAT part was as well..but it was for the GOLD NOT the stone, i mean, the ring is 18 Karat white gold..not 18 Carat stone...and so, as in many abbreviated descriptions of rings...this ring would have been described as an "18kt sapphire ring set with 14 brilliants." now that is accurate, but notice how the size of the stones (both diamonds and the sapphire) is not mentioned? the 18 kt referred to the gold in the ring, not the stone. and there, i believe is the simple and funny reason why everyone just began to assume her sapphire was the silly size of 18 ct, not kt... funny, but a really long and involved game of telephone.the pic is of diana''s ring and my own, of course both about the same size stone, mine is a 7 CARAT...and her''s is somewhere around there, no where near the 18 carat thought before...i posted this pic a while ago..so you will probably remember it..just put it up so everyone could see what i was referring to. i can''t believe it took me so long to ''see it''..the misunderstanding and why it happened i mean! lol..i''ll post some pics for everyone of the new sapphire once it arrives i think this week! yahoo!!!!

That''s because of all the royals, she was the most warm and "un-royal." She appealed to everyone because of her accessible and friendly nature. . . not to mention that great smile that lit up a room.

And another six weeks goes by before I find time to post!

I am most definately still wearing my Princess of Puke Tiara! In fact, I am starting lessons today with my students about geology and I always make a point of working jewelry in. I mention diamonds for the first time on Thursday and I''m wearing my tiara to school!

hey back to tourmaline lover and everyone! ok ladies and gents, i am going over to post photos of the ruby ring i just had made with that second ruby! for those of you who like rubies, this one is nice! it''s set in a ring i had made for it in the style of the ruby broach i''m attaching a picture of...i loved the style so since i had a ruby here, i used it! i''m putting up the pics of the ruby at sithathoriunet''s jewels for all to peek...

alright everyone.here is our beautiful diana as a newly wed..now, i have a question...for you all..it may seem silly, but it''s something i''ve been wondering about for a while now..i''m about to post a few pictures of diana''s ring...or rings???? it appears her sapphire ring is quite different in a few pics..now, i''m just saying it may be that she had two different rings, or one was changed for another that was similar, or remade..what i''ve noticed alot, is that in some pics, the sapphire it''s self has only double prongs at each corner of the stone..but in other pictures, there are prongs all the way around the sapphire..it''s pretty obvious..take a look and let me know what you think.....????

OH! i just noticed something else with the rings..i''m almost certain this has to be two rings now! look in the photos below...it appears that you can clearly see the surrounding diamonds are in different positions when compared to the placement of the prongs..i mean, in one picture, i have an arrow showing the diamond is between two prongs, and in the other ring the diamond that should be in that position in NOT between prongs! oh MY!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I pride myself on noticing details, and as often as I change details on my own jewelry, I never saw this as two different mounts until now. I feel you're correct!

Great eye and very interesting. It appears that the change was done within the first year or so of her marriage, doesn't it with the "new mount" showing up in the baby pic of William.

yes, it seems to have been early..i am wondering if it was done because of the supposed dimay of the queen and family that her ring was not a custom piece to begin with but that it was simply straight out of the garrards catalogue for 1981..christmas i believe...they did not like that people knew how much money was spent on it..nor that anyone who had the money could get the same one..perhaps that brought on the change????

I do not think that the man is Mike Tindall, who is now, apparently, engaged to Zara Phillips. He is too tall and has too much hair!

I was just looking at some pictures of the Peter Phillips-Autumn Kelly wedding yet again (which is where I came upon this photograph of the Princess Beatrice in the butterfly fascinator which she wore to their wedding). It does look as if Zara Phillips has her arm tucked through her escort's arm in a way that indicates some degree of intimacy. What puzzles me is why he is so much taller than she is in the wedding photo and not in other photos if her escort is, indeed, her fiancé, Mike Tindall!
