Rubellite?

MTG,
I'm glad it exceeded your expectations, and it turned out to be a very pretty stone. Enjoy!

Thanks! I can't wait to see it in daylight!

Bah, so I wanted to snap some photos before work of what it looks like in daylight, but for the life of me can't get the glow or the saturation to look right on camera! Or rather, it'll look right on my camera screen, and then get all dull and funny once it's on my computer. :angryfire: :angryfire:

I'll try again later because I   this stone. It really has a hot glow to it that I've never seen in anything else before.

Wow, it looks so much nicer than Barry's picture. The sparkles really adds zing to it.

What a Zesty Rubellite!!!!
Can;t wait to see the sparkle in the sun  :cheeky:  :cheeky:

Very pretty!

Ok...so, I tried to take some photos in the sunlight...they are all sort of fail. :angryfire: But since I took them, I might as well post them. I just give up on capturing the hot magenta glow.

These show the saturation well, but not the glow.

Thanks! I really adore it...now need to figure out how to set it! How did you set yours?

Beautiful stone. :appl:

Have you checked for fluorescence? I'm guessing red to violet fluorescence with that stone. I love how the camera splits out red and violet components in some of the photos.

That is simply amaaaazing!!!
If I had the funds and something so gorgeous, I would totally halo it :lickout:
Not sure if this is a PSer's ring but I've been eyeing this setting since I first saw it, and I think it'll look amazing with your new tourm

Um... I haven't :nono: I have a few thoughts about how to set it...it won't be a pendant, my mom will see it and I'll never get it back  So I don't know WHAT I'm going to do with it yet which is a shame!

I didn't think that tourmalines fluoro. I checked mine because of the red and purple/violet I could see in sunlight and got nada. Granted I'm looking under a black light as I would rubies and spinel, but maybe I need a different type of light?

You are correct, tourmalines do not fluoresce, except for chromes I think (not sure about chromes though).

nope, no fluro!

It's 6.2mm and .96ct, I'm debating between a simple solitaire or something more ornate like another Iolani since I really adore that setting.. I did think of haloing it, but it's just such a great stone I don't really want to add much business to it.

Hmm...

Still trying to get a good photo... here are some from my phone under the office lights.
