I've been looking and putting out feelers. I think these look very promising. Burmese, lightly heated with just very small traces of flux. The total carat weight is 2.06.

Any thoughts or opinions? I don't know the seller. They are ebay, but with 100% feedback. I'd make sure of return policy, and get a reputable report.

Comes with a lab memo or it's not worth finding out? Colour isn't a strong red and shows a lot of extinction. Then again, if not expensive, perhaps it is still worth it?

What Thai labs test for treatments? Do any do origins?

My, you are fast! I would just make sure you don't mind the color in the darker areas, where there is extinction (upper half in photo). If that works for you, then yay!!!

Check out Tokyo Gem Labs and AIGS. GIA should be there too and would be my top pick but they are pricier. I think GIA does origin reports. Don't know about the other two.

Pretty. Those do look sort of berry colored though don't you think? Well one a little more than the other.
Have you tried Gemcal yet for spinel pairs?

I've been looking. Still nothing perfect. Okay, not perfect, but not what I want.

I really like the pair of pears from AJS, I just really don't know how I would set them.

I had Gemfix get me another picture of those .89ctw 4.2mm rounds. I think they're a little too dark.

I any of you know if AJS supplies and shots of their stones?

Kudos to you for getting Gemfix to provide additional photos! I didn't think it could be done.

I, too, unfortunately, like the pears from AJS, if the photos run true to color. Perhaps others can weigh in on whether their photos are accurate.

Well they do look a little bit dark in that photo but they are still pretty stones. Is that indoor or outdoor?

Taken indoors by a north facing window during the day.

Chrono said in another post that they don't. Are these going to be earrings charms? Like the type you put on a hoop? Or studs? It would be great if you could get additional pictures of those spinel ovals and the ruby drops. Perhaps you can ask them to pull both pairs and they could tell you how they feel the compare side by side?

I can't even find a contact link for AJS.

It's under the about us pull down thing on top.

Thank you!!

The Gemfix rubies seem a little dark.

The AJS looks promising, but its hard to get a sense when gems are photoshopped onto a white background.

What do you think about these four stones? They're very small though, 3.5mm each.

I like the AJS pears the best (assuming the picture is accurate). The round pairs look decent, but they are a little bit on the pink side. Is that what you're looking for?

Well the color matches the avatar pic of your ring! I really am not a ruby expert, never owned one, but I think the color looks like a very nice red/pink. The clarity isn't great when we compare it to other types of gemstones but I think with most rubies that is the normal look. I would wear rubies like these.
How would you use four rounds? Two on each ear?

You ladies are going to be so grateful to hear that I AM DONE!

Love at first sight, payment sent, they'll arrive Monday. Pair of oval red spinel, 1.96 ctw. They're not a perfectly matched pair in size but, since my swollen head will be between them, I don't think it will be noticeable. I'll post pictures shortly.

Thank you all for your gracious opinions and endless patience!! CS is the best!!

Congrats :) Can't wait to see them!

thank you, ikitten, for how kind and helpful you have been. you are such a positive contribution to this board!

Best I can do right now are screen shots. They measure about 6.5 x 5.0

Those look great! Please let us know what you think when you get them.

Wow, I was logging on to tell you about some little Burma rounds that showed up today on Litnon. But you don't need them! Yay, good job! That was really fast! :appl:

They look like a nice match to your ring, especially in the right-most picture. I hope they're beautiful in person!

So hard to catch an accurate pic with screen capture. Jason says they are Red-red. He has a picture on facebook but I can't link to it. When I saw them in high def video I jumped off my chair. I think they were posted less than five minutes when I jumped on them.

What a nice thing to say :) Thanks!

BTW the color on those look really pretty.

P.S. What site are they from?

Kitten, the stones are from Jason Brim at Select Gem. He usually posts stones on facebook before he posts them on his website. It is not uncommon for him to have them sold within 8 hours of them being listed. If you do a search for Select Gem you can find him.

Uppy,
Has the spinels been checked to verify they aren't the new type of synthetic flux spinels which look darned close to the real thing? Just looking out for a fellow PSer since you mentioned they are very red and this new type is for red spinels. The only way to tell them apart is under super high magnification to see a certain type of inclusion.
