Hi,

Im looking for advise for side stones for a 3 stone ruby ring. The centerstone is a clean very intense pinkish red cushion ruby. 5.88x5.68mm 1.15ct.
So far my mind corossed triangle shaped diamonds or heart shaped diamonds. Is D color needed for something like that? What diamond quality would match best to such a ruby?

Thanks

This page has a very useful chart showing how different stone shapes combine in a 3-stone setting. This will give you a better idea how the things you're thinking about look. https://avadiamonds.net/the-complete-guide-on-how-to-choose-diamond-side-stones/

The chart has trillions looking very straight and angular, but I think for a cushion centre stone the more rounded trillions would fit better with the overall aesthetic.

I pulled a couple of images from some random website online.

Straight and angular:

More rounded and cushion-y:

Cushions also look great with rounds, a very classic antique look. I’d do 5-5.5mm OECs.

You can go more tinted. I would do JK for the diamonds because I like the soft warmth but in modern cuts I’d stick with HI.

Thanks! I will compare the ruby just beside diamonds to see the differences in color. Will have a meeting with a dealer that hold huge diamond stock. Im not a diamond person at all but that ring goes to someone witch works with diamonds and likes that setting style.
