As I was dragging my feet with indecision regarding a sapphire, something even better fell into my hands.

This is a 2.04 Burma ruby. It has a GRS cert that states heat with only minor residue. Size is 8.27 x 6.54 x 4.15.

Color is exactly what I dream about!!

Oh My!!!

YES!!!! Now that is ****! Perfect color. How'd you "happen upon" that?

Sweet! When dragging your feet pays off  I guess it was meant to be!

Oh my indeed. That is stunning. What are your plans for it?

Oooohhhhhh.............. Lucky you! It reacts to UV light?

Yep.

A few days ago I was asking about "Diana" mountings. I think this beauty deserves a classic like that.

Why yes, yes it does!

Love it Uppy, it's to die for!

It's gorgeous, Uppy! And the fluorescence is awesome. Can't wait to see that beauty set.

I'm getting quotes. I've requested BGD for "blue" signature melee. Wouldn't that be cool to have all the stones fluoresce?

ooooh! that is a GORGEOUS ruby! Yes, having everything 'glow' would be soooo cool!!! I hope they can provide that for you - and I do agree with you, the Diana/Kate setting would be perfect for that 'regal' stone!

Congrats on the wonderful set of circumstances that led to this stone!

Wow that is a pretty color  I cant wait to see it set!

Congrats!

OMG.

That is divine.

Do you plan to set it in YG? It will look sooooo amazing with your swirly ring (one of my fave rings on PS, btw).

I LOVE the idea of getting blue fluorescing melee stones. Guh. Coolest idea ever!

Thanks, distracts!!! Ideally I'd have the shank and head/prongs in 18k yellow. The halo would be white gold.

Stunning! Congratulations :D

Absolutely stunningly beautiful!

I don't know if you know but when Sarah Ferguson married Prince Andrew she had a ruby set in a "Diana" setting. I always preferred that to the Diana ring.

I agree, LD. Here's a ring Athenaworth just tried on in Maui. Makes my hear weep, it is so beautiful!

Bloody marvelous!!! Absolutely love the idea of the entire thing being fabulously fiendishly fluorescent.

Since my tastes are slightly off center, and my pieces are usually a bit quirky, I think that having the entire thing fluoresce (red and blue) allow the classic design to satisfy my warped sense of style.

Whoa... that is one VIVID red ruby! It's going to make one VERY stunning ring. Rubies in that size and color are hard to come by. It's my birthstone but to tell you the truth, I've given up looking... Congratulations on your find! :appl:

HI:

Wonderful! I'd set that baby with pears and marquise white diamonds--lala Harry Winston. Yes, yes I would!

cheers--Sharon

wowza!!

which vendor did you get this from? :appl:

It came from Jeff Davis at Fine Gemstones and Jewelry. He's the same vendor who listed the blue spinel that cm366 bought.

Outstanding.

I'm actually beginning a ruby quest, myself. You have inspired me. Enjoy it - I can't wait to see how you set it.
