Does anyone have them? What do you think?

My lashes have thinned out with age and mascara isn't really enough anymore.

I've used the generic Latisse with fabulous results. However, then I read about the side effects and decided it's nasty stuff and not worth the risks.

I've tried false lashes a few times but IDK it's just beyond me, I guess.

So now I'm thinking about trying salon lashes.

Please help with this most urgent and important problem! :lol-2:

I don't know about salon lashes, but I got my lashes tinted and lifted (like a perm) which I was really happy with. I guess it doesn't help with fullness, but it definitely made them stand out more. I was a bit wary of having something attached to my eyelid.

I would advise reading up on the care and maintenance requirements before opting for lash extensions.

I considered them, then I discovered I had to be careful when I shower and wash my face etc., and decided they are too high maintenance for my liking.

DK :))

Ive had a tint and lift. Results were nice and easy to wash my face. Having the procedure was not relaxing.
I’ve had salon lashes. Love the fullness and look of them. Super nice to not have to bother with mascara. Fussy is a good word for maintenance. Taking care to not spray water directly on them in the shower and having to be super careful with them when washing my face at the sink, ultimately made them too high maintenance for me. They also felt heavy which was annoying after awhile. The filler appointments every two weeks were a downside as well….
I’ve tried Rodan & Fields Lash Boost and the results are amazing. Like, AMAZING! It takes some patience as results take 6-8 weeks but wow. Super long, full lashes. Unfortunately, my upper eye lid began to get a red line of irritation so I felt like I should stop using it. If that hadn’t happened, I’d happily still be using it. I think it’s worth trying and cheap compared to salon lashes.

I had lash extensions for many years, and they are high maintenance. Plus when I did have them finally removed and decided to stop having them done, I had some bare patches which took a while to grow back.

I’d recommend using a lash growth serum and have a lash lift, that really made a huge difference.

My SIL had them, and although she loved the look, found they were fussy to wear (no other eye makeup, couldn't get them wet, etc.), and needed to be refreshed every 2-3 weeks. Then she developed a wicked allergy to the glue, so she stopped using them.

I’m lIke the other posters I had considered them but not being able to do my usual cleanse at the sink, become more cautious with makeup and upkeep turned me off them.

I go for regular lifts and tints with using a more gentle lash serum in between. It’s not as powerful as Latisse (which gave fantastic results but is worrying chemical wise) but I’m content to be patient.

I'm a bit confused as to what pps are talking about. Unless I'm talking about something else, I've had lash extensions, is that what youre considering?
If yes, I absolutely LOVED them, but they are a bit high maintenance. You can still wash your face, you just can't get them wet for 24h after so the glue can cure. But after that there is no issue with showering or washing your face. You will likely get a spoolie once done, so after they are wet I try to get most of the water out gently pressing a towel to the eye, and then brush the lashes to make sure they dry in a good position. It is recommended to avoid oil based items as it weakens the glue, but I never used much oil based makeup anyways. You are also supposed to avoid mascara, but that's basically the point of the lashes so I never found it necessary to add mascara on top! But you can absolutely still wear makeup, liner, etc with them.

The downside IMO is definitely the refills and wear on natural lashes. I have long natural lashes but they are thin and blonde. I loved waking up with thick beautiful lashes without having to do anything, but they did ultimately damage my natural lashes. I dont consider myself that busy of a person, but I found it so time consuming to set aside so much time on a consistent basis. YMMV, some people consider that self care but I found it tedious!

I loved the look and like the previous poster said, I had no issues with water. After the first 24-48 you can wash no problem. But they last 2 weeks, three if you’re lucky. So it gets expensive and time consuming.

I had lash extensions for many years and loved them. If taken care of properly ie. washing with a lash shampoo every day, using a sealant every other day, avoiding oils around the eye area, using a serum to strengthen natural lashes, they can last 4-5 weeks like mine did.

I never had any damage to my natural eyelashes...the key is to get extensions that are less than 50% of your natural lash length and as close in diameter as possible.

Since the pandemic happened, I got lazy to go back for my fills so my lashes are getting a break. I have been using magnetic lashes and I love them also. I can't do strip lashes since I can never get the glue on right. It always ends up looking a hot mess but I have no problem applying magnetic lashes...

What brand do you use? I haven’t tried magnetic ones.

I've never gotten extensions, but my daughter has and agree with others who say they are high maintenance. I've used Rodan & Fields Lash boost and it did work to make my lashes longer, although not thicker. I did quit using it when I learned of the class action suits involving this product as I didn't feel it was worth any risk to my eyes. I know some class actions are meritless, but again, since its a product for use on my eyes, I figured betters safe, than sorry.

I tried Rodan Fields once and the same - it made my lashes long but not thick. They looked like spiky spider legs lol. And I didn't know about the lawsuits - yikes.

To my knowledge, there are two kinds of magnetic lashes...the two piece ones where one strip goes underneath your natural lashes and the other strip goes on top. The second type comes with eyeliner and the lashes adhere to the eyeliner. These are the ones I'm using.

I tried three different brands from Amazon. The first set was from Reazeal. The eyeliner wasn't that great so the lashes didn't stay on well. The other two, Ylnalo and and Chansin were pretty good. Lashes stayed on for several hours until I removed them. Be aware, the eyeliner is difficult to wash off so you'll have to use some sort of oil. I used castor oil, which might also be a bonus since it's purported to aid in eyelash growth. :mrgreen2:

I use an eyelash curler, then mascara.
This makes my skimpy lashes look so much longer and thicker.

That's extent of my normal daily beauty routine, excluding drying and applying hairspray to my hair that takes about 5min; just curling the lashes and apply one coat of mascara.

I don't feel comfortable going out without at least curling my lashes (mascara is not allowed in controlled environments that I may need to visit from time to time).

I have been know to take a ruler into the ladies and curl my eyelashes with it when I had forgotten to do it before I left home.

I tried salon lashes but they ruined my eyelashes. They never grew back:(
I've heard great things about The Ordinary lash serum. I would try that first:)

Have wanted these for years and so far it has not happened. My research conclusions are that the single lash fillers are expensive and it is worth going to a higher end place as eye infections are not a good thing. The more lashes that are applied the more expensive. Also the quality of the lash varies. Ask for a gift certificate for the upcoming holidays. Maybe a Black Friday salon sale. It Would be great to get it done at the beginning of the holiday season as they do last a while. Love to hear from you after you got them.

I’ve had them many times. Once, i was allergic to the glue. Apparently, there are different glues. Also, you need to really research reviews because there are a lot of hacks out there. I lost lashes each time i got them. They took about 3 months to grow back

Yikes!! I have very tiny lashes to begin with so I loved the salon look. But it's expensive and so much upkeep. My favorite strip kind is Eylure 3/4 bc they look natural and not real glam or fake looking.

I saw an advert for eye lash serum, Googled it and found they have good reviews, so I took the plunge and bought one. It is called UKlash and I shall provide feedback in a few weeks, and shall take before, in-progress and after (12+ weeks or something like that) photos.

This will be interesting to see! I hope you get good results.

Fingers firmly crossed for good results!

Not too bothered if it does not work as it is relatively cheap costing less than 25 GBP today for 3-month supply, and with only an once daily application, so not high maintenance by any means.

I have Sjogren’s, which is an autoimmune condition that affects your eyes and how wet they get. So I am at my eye doctor’s office pretty frequently. I also struggle to wear any sort of eye makeup, so I have asked him about this. Fwiw, the eye doc perspective on this issue is: no eye tint is safe. No hair dye is approved for use next to the eye. Lash extensions are not safe. They can cause tons of problems with mites, lashes falling out, etc.

From their perspective, Latisse is by far the best and safest option. I have done it intermittently (not currently because honestly, I have just ceased to have the ability care about my lashes, because of all the other drops and potions I’m applying to my eyes on the daily. Highly recommend not caring as a method to deal with this. Very liberating.)

What about strip lashes? Fake ones?

I've tried many lash serums and have found the one that gave the best results (IMO) is by K-Beauty brand Etude House. This one is a little different...you apply it to your lashes like mascara instead of your lash line. And it's only $13 a pop.

I've had lash extensions since 2016. I don't ever want to stop, even with the list of cons. I request the "natural look" which is one or two extensions on each of my own lashes. Every so often, when she goes too thick, that's when my own lashes get pulled out. I only have to avoid getting wet for 24 hours after a fill.

Pros:
No more curling eyelashes
No eye makeup application
No eye makeup removal
Weight makes me blink more, making no more pterygium flareups

Cons:
Cost
1 hour fill appointment every two weeks
Eyes feel irritated for about an hour after fill
Can't rub eyes
Hard to keep lash line clean
Wash with baby shampoo every other day
Use Lash Boost serum daily so keep natural lashes healthy

Salon lashes are amazing but they will hurt your eyelashes in the long run (not permanently, of course) unless you’re very careful about taking breaks and really babying your lashes. I get salon lashes done around the holidays and it’s a fun little treat, and once in a while if I have a string of other special events. I do know some folks that get them done regularly and they look quite nice, but for me it’s a lot of work – the time it takes to get to the salon, get them done, the cost, and the maintenance is just too much to make it a regular event for me.

I had lash extensions twice and both times I loved them but to me they were too high maintenance and I hated going back for refills. They did look so nice. I also didn’t take off the first ones I had properly and had no eyelashes for a few months. It was bad. If you do get them and decide to remove them, make sure you follow directions when you remove them.
I bought lashify two weeks ago and I love love love them!!
They are like mini strips and look natural. I like them bc are so easy to put on and when I’m tired or want to give my lashes a break, I just don’t put them on.
They come in all different lengths and shapes and even have bundle packs for the popular lash shapes.
I’ve been using the curve ones and just purchased the starburst which are fuller.

I had them for years and while I loved the look, the maintenance was too much work/expense, especially after having kids.

And the extensions absolutely damaged my natural lashes—they were just tiny little stumps that only grew out after using lash serums (I currently use Revitalash and love it. I’ve done Latisse too but found it to be harsher). Good luck! I wish there was some magic way to have that extension look naturally, haha
