Happy holidays everyone!
In a year of gloom and drear I decided I needed to close 2020 out with a bit of sparkle and blue cheer! I've had a love affair with this stone for aggggggges, but on Wednesday I decided to make it real. Ilya said the stone came out of a brooch and was originally over 10 cts but poorly cut, so he had it improved. And the results are STUNNING!
Over 11 mm square and unheated (GIA), the color on this is just gorgeous -- a lighter blue that goes darker and even a little violet as it moves. Ilya had some great ideas on the setting so I think we've got the basics nailed down, but will appreciate any help on refining the details. And speaking of Ilya, he's a SAINT! Super patient and so incredibly knowledgeable. I'm lucky to have him "in my own backyard" down on Chicago's jeweler's row. When all this is over we NEED to have another get-together at his new showroom because it's been far too long since we've all visited him and played in his jewel box (the last time was in 2013 -- how could it have been that long ago?!) and the "new" space deserves to be christened by a gaggle of PSers!
But enough of all that; on to the important stuff!
