I am hoping I can get some help wih my stone.I bought this ring with some other jewelry in a private estate sale. Is it a sapphire and how much might it be worth? I think the stone is around 3 carats. The color is a very rrich, vibrant, floresent blue color. Thanks.

Have you had it checked out to make sure it isn't a synthetic? It looks to be in remarkably good condition.

I have not had it looked at by anyone. I feel it is more of an antique ring and stone. It is the most beautiful blue.

Check for inclusions with loupe, normally such a transparent, vivid color, and super clean will command a high price, and very unlikely to be a sapphire, but for tanzanite very likely. But for best assurance send it to the lab and have it tested. For pricing wise must know whether treated and etc and Chrono is an expert.

My tanzanite 21ct very clean, and not pricey as compared to sapphire. I paid 19k.

Ok, two experts have spoken, you cannot go wrong following their votes; so I third for synthetic :D

In the VIctorian/ Art Deco era it was extremely popular to use synthetics. That would be my vote as well since it pretty much looks like blue glass in the pictures you posted. Still a lovely ring if you redid the prongs a bit.
