The diamonds in this ring total 1 carat. I love the diamonds, but I don't love the setting....at all. I had a thought of having a band made with two princess cut sapphires between the diamonds. Can any of you help with a source that would have them or could make them for me?IMG_3140.jpgIMG_3138 (1).jpg

What is the mm size you need? If they are small, it might be better to have the bench who is remaking the ring source the pair.

They’re going to be pretty small and I had thought about that also…let the bench find them for me. All three diamonds are the same exact size so the sapphires can be the same. Thank you for the advice. (I will enjoy the diamonds a lot more in another setting and sapphires are my birthstone.)

I’d let the bench figure it out since sapphires are deep and face up small.

Thank you! There’s a store in Hattiesburg that does a good bit of custom work, and one in Gulfport where my son had the rings made from some of my diamonds for my daughter-in-law’s wedding set. It’s good to have choices!!!

The profile of that ring is amazing! Looks like "late American" Art Deco or even like WPA-era. Just really cool! Face on -- I agree it's kind of a mess and almost looks Brutalist. I bet with cushions or rounds and elegant prongs it would be incredible! Or maybe a low-color almost-fancy center diamond?

Thank you for seeing the "good" in it! It's not terrible and the diamonds are really nice even though they are small. You've given me another idea.....sometimes "all a lady needs is a new dress!!!"

Also, I really love these two lines -- how they play together as they wrap around the ring:

You have an amazing eye! (I'm actually beginning to like it just a little!) I bought the ring at a pawn shop and it does need a good cleaning and polishing. I will consult with both benches I am thinking about using and see what each one says. In any case, however I do it, I will save that setting for perhaps another project.

^ Well if you ever sell it, give it a mention here first =)2

EDIT: And I like the patina -- but I guess it is pretty hard to get under the stones to clean.

I gave the bottom a look last night…dang near impossible to see how clean they are….or aren’t.
