Sapphire suggestion

Invisible silk is what you want -- nice transparency in a stone that lights up in direct sunlight. Visible silk that reduces brilliance and transparency is less desirable. Most people (and I'm one) think that color is paramount in a colored stone, but not to the extent that it loses its "gemmy" quality.

Sizeable budget per carat is being spent, of course all day long! :)

Darker, www

@lovedogs I trust this seller saying that the stone is nearly always blue, not black, but of course there is a long distance between this and the light blue mentioned above, I am simply not counting on finding a shade darker than the above & still lighter than this; 'Royal Blue' in strong light should be just that.

The other picture is realistic.

I am not sure what I would choose among these.

Do you like his hand shot?
If it’s a go - ask him if he’s got any of his discount vouchers he offers monthly or semi monthly.

WWW this has every pedigree for color.

The sky blue from Gemfix is tempting - I love light blue, although many turn gray in bright daylight, exactly when the deeper classic blue is at its best. [thinking out loud]

Another really nice option!

I dont know why p.s members dont shop around more, this is windowed its over priced and cut bad. I can think of ten other mom and pops owned Gemstone business on etsy that there owner did not go to jail for trying to remove negative commits about there shop and have higher quality with a way better price. Its like the same shops are talked about and for the most part I cant understand why

It is a shame you can’t link to those other shops and their goods.

I think it's bc NSC is a place that newer shoppers come across and then we explain to them that they can find something much nicer for a better price.

This is exactly why I posted in the first place. I have no idea where to go and apparently with my limited gem knowledge am not so good at finding quality. If you can help with some options, I would be grateful.

This is beautiful! Do you think it will still sparkle like this in a halo yellow gold ring...or be too dark? And do you see any issues with it?

Thank you for finding these for me. They are a bit dark already and I fear a halo would darken them too much. I appreciate your efforts though.

You are welcome.
Kevin Bryant (by PS rules) can’t recommend his own stones, so I thought I’d recommend them for him.
But- he’s not supposed to comment at all about other vendors stones either, so there’s that PS rule, too.
Or I’m wrong. I don’t know.

Sorry for the derail.
Hope you find something you love

Peace

Ohhhhh! I see. I didn't realize this. Thank you for stepping in. I will definitely take a look at more of his gems.

I don't see any issues with it. However, I would email them and see if they can send you a pic of it on the hand. I don't know the vendor, so can't speak to the accuracy of their photos. I would want to see it IRL before making a judgement, and hand pics usually give a good sense of how it would look.

Lovely option! Thank you. Do you seen any issues with this stone? Do you think the price is fair?

I think just seeing that one company's stone that sent me on my rant, I still have a hard time with what they did, it breaks public trust and looks bad on us all of us.

What do you think of something like this?

I know you said this was $5,500, which is a bit out of my budget right now, but does this vendor have a website where I can look. I really love this color. I looked around most of yesterday and keep coming back to this. It's exactly the shade I've been longing for. Thank you.

She has an Instagram, but her primary sales channel is WeChat. Do you have? If not, I can also ask her for more pictures in other lighting settings.

OP
Has your wants parameters changed from your initial post, color and sparkle factor?
Perfectly fine :) if it has, just trying to keep in mind what you are looking for

I see no issue. If anything I am intrigued by how clarity is described - I am not seeing any flaws.

Would compare with this: www - perhaps darker, but beyond reproach.

This is worth a click: www

The reputation of the shops accounts for most of the difference of price, methinks, aside some traditional taste for darkness.

There is a reason why darker, highly saturated sapphires are classics, instead of being faulted for their darkness - the blue glows in strong light, as a couple of pictures show (this too - www); with lesser saturation or lighter tone, stones go gray (storm skies). Some lighter blues hold colour better than others, not quite matching the glow of darker sapphires given good light (you shouldn't have to shine a penlight through them, direct daylight seems reasonable to me, as it is already stronger than most & everywhere).
