I've been looking for an Asscher and found a perfect one, and then second guessed myself because: 1) in a local store, she really seemed to like the sparkle of princess cuts; and 2) it dawned upon me that rather than spend my limited funds now on a sub-1 carat Asscher, it might behoove me to get a nice princess cut now and then for an anniversary down the road get a 1.5 asscher or something when I have more cash.

Here's what I did, and I hope this was a good move:

.85 carat G SI1 (eye clean according to Sarah), AGS triple 0, from GoodOldGold. It's the middle one in the video; it was between that and the .96 carat on the right, but this one was $1000 cheaper and seemed to have more scintillation. Only concern is the cloud in the table, but today it should arrive so I can confirm what Sarah said.

Diamond

Tiffany replica from SuperbCert in platinum.

Setting

Lastly, it has been great working with GoodOldGold and Barry at SC/Excel. They both went out of their way to field my thousands of questions and to push production on the ring so it is done in one week (as opposed to 1.5 to 2 per the website) so I can get this in time for my trip. And thanks to everyone on Pricescope for continually helping me out!

I think you picked a winner!

Its a beautiful stone and a classic setting...cant go wrong! Congrats!

Looks perfect. Congrats.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I haven''t seen it yet, but my mum said it is gorgeous. Now it''s off to Barry to make the setting happen.

Pics will be forthcoming as soon as I get the completed product. :)

I think you made a great choice. If she prefers the sparkle of a princess she would have been disappinted with the flashes/subdued look of an asscher I suspect.

It looks very pretty.

Looks nice!

Ditto dreamer - if she likes twinkle asscher is not the way to go!
