Hi all.
I have been offered an amazing Sapphire for a very good price. With excellent results from AGL. I can not buy it unless I can find a nice semi mount for it but at the same time I really want this gemstone.

Do anyone know where to find blazing semi mounts for pear cut gemstones? I dont know if'd like pave, plain, three stone setting or what.

I would also appreciate if people would be able to share their own semi mounts including a pear cut as main stone.

I received copy of the AGL report, pictures, and video of the sapphire but I dont know how to download it to my computer? But if anyone think it is necessary to know the stats of the sapphire vs. to choose the right mounting please let me know and I can type the specs.

Thank you in advance!

Thank you very much for your reply.
I will check it out! :D

I were / I am .. mainly looking for a ring mounting.

But what do you people think about this piece? Almost exactly the same color and clarity as I am offered.

It looks lovely - hope you find the ring mount you're looking for.

Have you checked Adwar casting company

No, I have not. You got a link to it? :)

With these a jeweler has to order it for you. But if you have a local jeweler set it for you it would work out just fine. I had some diamonds set into a three stone and it was a lot less than some of the online vendors prices ( that also use stock settings).

My favorite pear setting a 2 stone with trapezoids. A think a jeweler with a decent bench could do this for you. I don't remember the PSer who this belongs to, but I hope it's okay for me to post it.

It's really beautiful!
Then three stone ring it is but I'm not 100% sure which type of cut I should choose for the side diamonds?

Baguette
Trilliant (Trillion)
Pear
Tapered Baguette (Trapezoid)

I don't know the size of your stone, but here is a photo of my tsavorite three stone with pear shaped diamond side stones, so it gives you an idea of what a colored stone looks like in the center, as opposed to a diamond.

The trapezoid diamonds I posted are not baguette cut, but are brilliant cut. Pears are brilliant cut, which is why I prefer the brilliant cuts traps. You can also do step-cut traps (or trapezoid-shaped baguettes), but the step-cut will contrast with the brilliant cut of the pear. It is a different look. It's up to what you like best.

Leon Mege has a nice page talking about side stones:

Beautiful ring CL - and that tsav!

I figured out how to save the the pictures now, yippey!
Here's the gemstone I has been offered and I think most of you understand why I want this gemstone so badly.

colorluvr could you please specify the measurements of your Tsavorite and your diamonds please just so I get some picture in my mind? :)

I was just about to post begging for pictures! I love pears and love sapphires & dream to have one!

Yours is just TDF! Good luck finding the perfect mounting. Depending on what the ring is for, Gabriel & Co can modify any of their setting to fit a pear center stone.

Yes, I have to find a prefect mounting so I can purchase it before someone else does I hate when that happens!

It does look lovely and unheated as well. If this is the stone you want, why do you feel it necessary to buy the setting before buying the stone?

I want to buy the gemstone first of course but I just want to make 100 percent sure that I find a pear mount that I really like, so I dont end up with the stone and no mount in the end at all :)

Thank you so much for this link! I think I will go with either Step cut Chevrons or Shields to this sapphire. Very helpful link!

Finding a setting is a lot easier than finding the sapphire. I think you may be putting yourself under a lot of pressure if you make buying the stone contingent upon finding the setting you love. Whereas if you buy the stone you will have the impetus to keep looking for the perfect setting but the knowledge that you can relax and take as much time as you need to look around and decide if you want to find a semi mount and have it (perhaps) altered to fit your stone, or indeed if you go the custom route.

Do you have a budget for the setting?

Just as a "for instance" - someone like Leon Mege could source the sidestones and custom make the ring - for a price of course :))

Buy the stone! Don't wait to have a setting -- that is much more easily taken care of than finding a sapphire like that for what you say is a good price. For heaven's sake, don't let that beauty get away!! :cheeky:

P.S. I go for the trilliants or traps with it. Somehow they seem to balance the shape best, but whatever you like is the important point.

When thinking about it you are right, make sense. I will place my order now and hope they accept the offer they gave me yesterday as it has been almost 24 hours since I received their email.

I want the side stones to match the sapphire in the manner that the side stones aren't too big. So I'm thinking somewhere between 0.40 - 0.60 carat each in VVS2/D and the type of metal in 950PT Platinum, and I hope the mount wont cost me more than $4000.

You've got a good budget - go ahead and buy the stone. We can offer as much or as little guidance as you need through the rest.

Yes, will do! Just hope I can get a matching pair of Chevron cut diamonds. It's always hard to find good matching diamonds no matter which cut. :/

I may be too late in your decision making process but thought I'd show you what I had made by DanielM on etsy. This was made in argentium silver, size 7.75 and I just ADORE this ring of mine!! They are eBay sapphires (unheated centre; supposed to be unheated songea sides... but ... ???) so not quite the same quality of stone that you are looking at - or the size - but I love it anyway! It was made custom but it was not overly expensive, so it might still be worth an email to Caren and Dan to explore the process with them.

I did check out Etsy earlier today. I think I will go with either Step cut Chevrons or Step cut Trapezoids, whichever is easiest to find. I think these diamonds will my the cut of the sapphire.
