Hi,
I posted a while back because my BF and I have been talking about engagement rings. We got delayed because we went to try on settings and I couldn't find any I really liked then-- more importantly-- a few life events happened and we just weren't thinking about the engagement as much. Not bad stuff, really, just stuff that bumped the engagement ring off the top of the priority list.
Anyway, we have been talking again, I realized that the reason why didn't like the rings I tried on it is because I don't really like my fingers. I'm not a terribly insecure person, but my hands definitely aren't my most prized feature! I actually have autoimmune issues that cause swelling and hypermobility of my finger joints.
So, I looking for a ring that flatters my fingers and is comfortable. I have attached a picture of my hand. My fingers are about a size 7.25, most of which is squishy (i.e., not bone) and my hands are, in general, pretty fleshy. Even when I lose weight, they dont... although they do swell up a bit from time to time. As you can see, my fingers taper. They also get a little bit skinnier right at the base.
I have noticed that too-thin bands cause a muffin-top effect in which the fat gets squeezed out above and below. I have found that too-wide bands and even some stackers tend to take up too much space on my relatively short first knuckle.
I would love any opinions! What general shape of engagement ring and eventual wedding band might look better on me? Three stone? What size stones might give the best porportions? Elongated shapes? Low profile?
Also, what might give me more comfort? Although I honestly am thinking more about looks right now!
I would also really appreciate photos of rings on hands that are sort of like mine.
