My hubby bought me a heart shaped diamond (in a ring) for Valentine''s Day. I don''t know the specs other than that its 6.3 mm. I suspect it has a low clarity (with a loupe I see lots of white inclusions) and I know its cut for spread but it is pretty and it does have a nice heart shape. I want to make a pendant out of it and have already priced this at a local jeweller. My question is, what do you guys of think of this setting for heart shaped diamond?

http://www.debeers.com/Solitaire-Pendants/Heart-Shaped-Three-Prong-Pendant/invt/j5cz01h10w42&bklist=icat,6,shop,toppendants,ncpendants,pendantssolitaire,j5cz01h10w42

Do you think it will look nice with a diamond that is somewhat less perfect than the diamond in the picture? You can''t see any inclusions on my diamond with your eyes and it does sparkle, but not as much as my ACA earrings from whiteflash. Do you think I would be better off doing a more normal setting, like a rabbit ear? I was thinking of this also, but my feeling is that the rabbit ear makes it difficult to see the shape of a heart pendant.

also, do you think the style shown in the debeers ad would keep flipping over annoyingly? What could I do to minimize this?
Thanks.

I think that''s a very pretty setting! i have a heart diamond that i want to reset into a pendant too, but i''m afraid of the flip too so it''s still in a ring. Wonder if a bezeled setting will flip less? For sure it''ll accentuate the shape more!

Dont think the inclusions will make that much difference, especially since you can''t see it w/o a loupe.

Attaching a bezel heart pendant I saw on here once... not sure who it belongs to so sorry about stealing pictures... I really like that style for heart pendants.

That''s very pretty. Maybe the person it belongs to will respond with some information on it.
I wonder if it will take away even more sparkle to have it set in a bezel though--and if it will cost a lot more.

Julia Kay Taylor is working on a 3 stone bezel ring for me right now (hopefully done soon, she started this week!), so I was thinking of bugging her for a quote after she''s done w/ my ring. It''ll be argentium silver, so it wont tarnish. Maybe that can be an alternative if it''s too expensive to work in white gold? I personally love the way polished silver looks on me. I do not like the way platinum patinas... so dull and tin can looking if it''s not freshly polished or engraved.

Let me know what she quotes you.
My jeweler said it would be $75 to make the setting I showed above in white gold with a week turnaround--if I provided the chain to place it on. I do have a chain. He said the rabbit ears would cost the same--but as I said, i fear that the heart shape gets lost with a bale sticking out of the middle of it.
Is there somewhere where I can see Julia Kay''s work?

If you search her name on here, or JKT, you''ll find lots of threads. :)

$75 is very good! I dont think she can beat that...

Rabbit ear bale will definitely disturb the shape... i''ve seen those pendants before and it looks like a turnip if it''s a fat heart.

I think I just found her on Etsy. I saw a three stone ring which looks nice there--a very large center stone and two little ones on the side set in what looked like gold wire--is that the one you''re ordering?

I do think that $75 is a fair price for what I want done.I jsut wondered if a pendant set on a bale would tremble more and hence seem to sparkle more. and then there is the flip question. My jeweler said he would set the rings more forward to minimize flip but could not guarantee that there wouldnt'' be any.

No, mine is a vertical 3 stone. Here''s the link to the sketch I posted a while back: JKT Tsav 3 stone

I ended up w/ all silver. Looked at some tsav w/ yellow bezels and they reminded me of christmas trees.

Not sure if a bale would tremble the diamond more. My baled ones are all flat in the back, so it usually sticks to my neck or chest, haha

i like the vertical three stone. it reminds me of some antiques. i look forward to seeing the finished ring.
I will try to post a photo of the ring my husband gave me, with the heart shaped stone in it. I am not too good at taking pictures, but I''ll try. Going to wait for daylight though.

It''s a very white stone and it''s nicely heart-shaped. I hope for the best with the pendant.

I think the De Beers setting is very pretty and I also like the bezel set. I don''t know if the De Beers setting would flip over or not.
