Setting ideas for blue cushion sapphire

Hi Pricescopers! I'm finally going to set my cushion sapphire that I picked up last year, and I am looking for ideas! It's 10x8 mm, and I am looking to make a RHR. It's currently in a temp setting:

I have a similar-sized Princess Di ring already (it's a long story about how I ended up with two blue sapphires of the same size), so I am looking to make something completely different:

And here's the both of them together with a few other rings:

Thanks, friends!

I would do a three stone with traps or half moons on each side. Elongated cushions look great with those shapes.

So flattered that you are inspired by my Paraiba ring with french cut sides by Leon!
I your case I would opt for tapered french cuts and I would let Victor Canera or David Klass make the ring.

The party ring is beautiful but - to my eyes - not suitable for everyday wear. And indeed it’s quite similar to your Diana/Kate ring

I love your stuff @Acinom! Thanks for having such great taste :)

I worry about bezel setting this stone since it's already slightly dark in indoor lighting conditions. I do like the detailing of this ring though! Thanks for the suggestion!

Would you consider something in yellow gold?

This is one of my favourites though it is very different to your other rings

Perhaps something asymmetric could also work? I do think if you are not careful it could end up being very similar to your other rings.

Love the Leon you linked to with the French cuts. Clean lines and classic. I don't think the party ring you posted a photo of is wearable for every day.

It looks like you already have a third sapphire set with two round side stones. What about traps, very classic and not at all like your other rings. If these two setting ideas don't have the wow you are looking for, start looking at vintage rings and see if a setting appeals to you.

[updated - looks like this is this ring here - https://www.pricescope.com/communit...urmaline-in-leon-mege-french-cut-ring.151081/]

All right, I think you have all talked me out of the party ring! Thanks for the advice.

What about a slightly tapering channel cut french cut set?

This was exactly what I was thinking about when I mentioned the tapered French cut setting. I love this design for your sapphire. However, I am heavily biased as I own two rings with French cut sides.

That tapered French cut ring is perfect. Since you already have a 3 stone sapphire ring and a halo sapphire ring, this is my favorite option. :kiss2:

Gorgeous collection by the way. Is that an AVC diamond ring?

Ok I'll need to save some pennies for a tapered french cut set! I know Yoram has some available... :evil2:

And yes! Good eye! That's a 2.09 ct, H, VS1 AVC set in a basic platinum setting (borrowed BostonJeff's design here). Here's another shot of it (with my pear paraiba):

Another AVC photo since we're on the topic... ;-) I know, not colored stones related...

@Acinom - took your advice and went for tapered french cuts. There are a total of 12 (6 per side), and they are G/VS quality channel set with a milgrain. The flare of the french cuts feels more curved in person. These photos make it look a lot flatter than it is IRL.

Everything is set in platinum. I love it!

It’s beautiful! Wow! This is going right into my inspiration folder.

That is AMAZING!

OMG, LOVE. WANT.

Thank you!

I worked with a local Seattle jeweler to create the ring itself - Frank Mallinak at Mallinak Designs. He has made most of my jewelry.

This is gorgeous! I love how the diamonds just flow into the shank. And this ring looks very different from your other two sapphire rings, which is perfect,

Your ring is amazing!! Your jeweller did an excellent job. It looks sooo beautiful on your hand.

Could you also add some profile pics?

Will do. Waiting for some better lighting, and I'll take some pix.
