Has anyone seen it? What happens?

Saw it today with 20 pals and then went for lunch and had a cosmo.

It was AMAZING. We all cried and laughed.

You don''t really want to know, do you? Go see it, it is so worth it.

Tell me, please?

Oh come on DF. I wanna know too!

Bad Green won''t tell me. First, she said Big and Carrie died flying off into the sunset. Then, she said they all turned lesbian.

Okay, I will answer questions. BUT I AM NOT TAKING ANY SMACK FROM SOMEONE WHO READS THIS AND GETS MAD THEY FOUND THINGS OUT.

DO NOT READ THIS THREAD IF YOU DON''T WANNA KNOW.

I''ve seen it but I''m not so hot at summarizing things. I end up writing enough that someone should have seen or read it themselves. I can''t wait to see how you explain it DF!

Just this second back in from seeing it. I couldn''t wait any longer and had to go, so went to the first showing this morning, DH and I and another couple had the biggest cinema to ourselves, it was great.

I thought it was absolutely fantastic and I was sooooo caught up in it all, it was like seeing old friends again. I also found it exceptionally emotional and could have cried the entire way through it, don''t know if that was hormonal or just the fact that the movie was so good and just pulled me in.

The clothes, hair, shoes, bags, decor it was all exquisite. They really got it right, there were some really touching scenes and dealt with the issues really really well.

I deliberately avoided watching trailers, reading articles and interviews so that I didn''t get any spoilers and I will admit that I have enjoyed it more because of that.

I''m going to ask again, do you really, really want to know the story?

Po, I agree. I cried, and laughed, and thought it was really well done.

the real estate **** between Carrie''s new place and Charlotte''s...OMG, when my kids are grown I would move to a place like that in a second.

I love Charlotte, she is like me the most, with a lot of Carrie thrown in, and even though Charlotte can be a bit prissy, she is real too, and loving. Her adopted little girl was so cute I could not take it.

Loved it! Kept having dreams with the characters in it last night. Charlotte was too cute with her "comeback line.."

Yes, I really really want to know the story. I''ve also put "spoiler" in capital letters in the title, so that others won''t accidentally read it.

I''m interested in why you want to know instead of going to see it?

Are you planning on seeing it?

You can ask me stuff and I will tell you, but just think it is silly if you have plans to see it. It is like reading the end of a book~

***HERE BE SPOILERS***
PLOT DETAILS AND ALL OUT RUINING OF SAID MOVIE.

DON'T FLAME ME! I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR SNOOPING.

SECOND WARNING: SPOILERS

Last chance.

Alright, let's go...
The movie spans a full year. It seems like 3-5 years after the show ended. It's a little blurry. Keep in mind the movie is like 2.5 HOURS long (five full episodes!) so it's much more in detail. Here's the gist.

So we meet off with Big and Carrie being the picture perfect couple, shopping for a new home in NYC. They buy an astronomical penthouse on 5th Ave. Carrie sells her apartment during the renovation of the new PH, and they decide to get married as a business proposition. She begins planning a small wedding, but after shooting a spread for Vogue as "The Last Bride ...at 40" she receives a dress from Vivian Westwood (the horrid one you see in the trailers, some of the others were so much nicer) and ends up planning a circus with over 200 people. Big gets anxious as this is his 3rd marriage and at the rehearsal Miranda, upset from seeing Steve, tells him "You're crazy to get married. Marriage ruins everything" as a result (possibly) Big gets cold feet and leaves Carrie at the venue (NYC library) Carrie flips out, and the girls shuffle her off to Mexico on a non-honeymoon to recover. When she gets back, she rebuys her old apartment (condo? She owns it) and uses the advance from her 4th book to completely redo it. She hires and assistant and informs her to never make her communicate with Big (John Preston!... ?) again. Over time, her assistant moves back to her home town to marry her beau. After she leaves, Carrie looks through her mail and finally signs onto her email to checks her assistant's files. When she does she finds multiple love letters from a book she had been reading. The last email is his letter to her which simply says "I know I screwed up- but I will love you forever" which the latter was supposed to be his vows. They reconcile, he proposes with a pair of Manolos with crystals on them (which she had left at the new home as her first item in the new closet) and end up marrying, just the two of them, at City Hall.

Samantha has moved to LA to manage Smith's exploding career, but appears around more in NYC than there. He secretly bids against her on a diamond (!) flower ring, which she relinquishes at $55,000. He surprises her with the ring later in LA, but she makes it clear it's not an engagement ring. While in LA, she spends a large amount of time watching her neighbor Dante have sex with a different women every night, and to distract herself from actually sleeping with him, she eats. A lot. Smith is working a lot so she flies back and forth to see the girls almost weekly. She buys a little rat dog that has been fixed but still humps everything (symbolic of her and Smith's relationship) and slowly realizes that she's going to leave Smith because she's not a relationship person. She does so, and comes back to NYC in the end. Albeit much wealthier.

Charlotte and Harry have adopted a little Asian girl, now 3ish, and get pregnant again (and give birth) during the movie. Charlotte doesn't play a major part, but she is a support and is wildly protective of Carrie throughout the film. The most prominent of her is in telling Miranda to wait a while to tell Carrie about what she said to Big. At the end, while waddling pregnant, she runs into Big (known only as John in the movie...) and spouts "I curse the day you were born" before her water breaks and he drives her to the hospital. She gives birth to a girl (Rose) and Big waits for Carrie to show up, but somehow leaves before her does (we assume several hours or even a day). Harry stops Carrie before leaving, telling her that big was looking for her (she had changed her #) and wrote to her.

Miranda looks horrible (in my opinion, much thinner, too-straight hair and slightly like she's still recovering from her [real life] cancer) but she and Steve still live in Brooklyn with Magda. Steve sleeps with another woman, admittedly because they haven't been having sex more than every six months and she does nothing but work. Miranda leaves Steve and moves back to the city, sharing custody with Steve. Miranda refuses to forgive Steve for about 6 months, during this time she tells Carrie about what she said to Big. During the fight Carrie tells her she thinks it's a huge mistake for her to not forgive Steve and doesn't speak with her for days. When the fight is over, Miranda decides to go to therapy with Steve and they reconcile on the Brooklyn Bridge at the end of the movie.

The movie was good, altogether. But it didn't feel true to the show for me. Everything felt much more played up, much more glossy and not as "New York" as "Upper Class". It's the same characters so either way, it's worth seeing, but don't expect it to be an exact segway from the HBO series.

I saw it last night (my sweet husband took me to see it as a secret date!) and while it was cute, I have to say I was disappointed in a few things, mainly the end. Though the movie made Big out to be more "human" than he was in the TV show, I hated that after all was said and done, Carrie succumbed to what Big wanted...again. He was too much of a baby to go through with a large wedding, so he doesn't show, and she forgives him, AGAIN. She was his doormat throughout the TV show, so it seemed only fitting that she was his doormat throughout the movie.

I also thought Charlotte's character was pretty weak. Most of the movie, she just screamed (with happiness, with anger, whatever). Though she was the least developed throughout the show, IMO, I think they should have given her a little more screen time, possibly with her daughter.

There were some pretty hilarious parts, though, and I have to admit, I teared up when Carrie hit Big with her bouquet and as he was coming toward her, Charlotte screamed at him, so protective of her friend. Haven't we all been there?

I think Carrie realized that he had been trying to tell her all along. She realized that he was getting married for the third time, and that it was about the two of them. She knew she got caught up in the hoopla and lost site of the really important aspects.

I was sad Samantha broke up with her man.

I did think Cynthia Nixon looks bad. I liked her hair fluffier, it was too severe straight. Also, I never loved her persona that much on the show and do not find her attractive, she was always so miserable looking to me.

While this is true, it was HER first wedding, you know? Yes, she got caught up in having a large wedding, but she loved the dress, and the location, and the feel of it all. Big "not being able to go through with it" on the DAY OF (rather than putting his foot down before) was pretty crappy and flakey, just like his character. She deserved better.

Oh my, look at me talking about these characters as though they''re real.

I agree he was a shit, but I think he loved her and knew SHE wanted it so he tried to deal. Miranda was a total wretch to have said what she said to him, and though his issues were deeper than one comment, it did not help. I think the scene at the auction in the bathroom sobered Carrie up that she needed to be careful or she might not have anything later on, and it scared her. But I know she started out wanting simple, the white suit, 75 people, and the photo shoot changed all of that. He did say he would go in with her, I think he was scared of losing what they had.

Carrie knew that to be with Big it was always going to be on his terms. He made his point time and again that he''d been married twice before and that all he wanted was to be with her, and it to be about just them. Carrie lost sight of that, yes it was her first wedding, but it wasn''t his, so they had to compromise and she didn''t, she did the Vogue thing without him, talking about ''her'' wedding and its their wedding. He did try to talk to her before the wedding but couldn''t get through, she would have calmed him down but it didn''t got to plan and I thought the words that she said when she got out of the limousine were so fitting - "you humiliated me".

I think what we wanted was the same storylines from the series but they''re older now and have to deal with compromise and acceptance and mature approaches to life and so it was a different take on what went before.

Charlottes character was weak, I agree, but what else could they really have her do, out of all of them, they got what she always wanted, a husband, perfect marriage and a daughter, the only thing they could give her was a successful pregnancy. For me, I definitely think what made Charlotte more adorable was her reaction to Big after the flower incident. That was sooooo real.

Miranda - yeah, she was always going to be having issues with Steve and the kind of character she is, would always voice her opinion whether it was the right occasion or not. But the older Miranda did get back with Steve, cos she had to think of others apart from herself which is again, not what we were used to.

Samantha - 50 and gorgeous and never a housewife so I was happier when she moved back to NYC to be herself again.

All in all, I thought it was a good ending, cos Carrie and Big can''t live with each other or without each other and that''s the way it was always going to be with them. I loved the ending cos life doesn''t always work that way, as Carrie said to Charlotte''s little girl when she read Cinderella to her. I''m really glad they had the wedding they did with the reception they did, cos it fitted their personalities better.

What I''ve always loved about the show is that they actually show women eating and drinking and going to the loo. IMHO, the show never promoted skinnyness, for example, when Samantha put on weight, all Carrie said to her, well as long as you are happy that''s all that counts. Fantastic. Other shows should do the same.

I loved it and love talking about it and analysing it cos my imagination runs wild. lmao

Wasn't that reaction from Charlotte great? While everyone else in the theater laughed, it made me tear up.

I wish they had shown more Charlotte/Lily interaction, since Charlotte wanting to be a mom was such an big part of the last few seasons. There was zero mother/daughter chemistry, and I think they could have played that up a bit more, like they did with Miranda and Brady (the scene before he left with Steve for New Year's Eve).

I agree with Po that the women are older now and have families and we see their more mature, compromising selves in the movie.

I got the impression that Carrie didn''t want the wedding or to get married until Miranda kept making comments and then the woman in the auction bathroom said something about being protected as well. At the end, during the book reading, she talks about doing the wedding "their" way whereas the wedding that was cancelled was all about her. From 75 people to 200 is quite a big deal.

I thought the movie covered too much, too quickly (as tv to movies seems to do often, IMO). We never did get to see how Big and Carrie acted during the wedding planning. We saw the agreement to get married, the proposal closet (I''d pass up a diamond for it as well!), the discussion about 75 people, and then very shortly before the wedding when she confirmed it was 200 people to a shocked Big.

All in all, a good movie. I''m glad I saw it.

I don''t know if its how I''m feeling today, but I just found that I could have cried through the entire movie, it was so emotive. I found it hysterically funny too and laughed out loud loads but the parts where my DH grabbed my hand was the part at the bottom of the stairs when Mario (wedding planner) said that Big hadn''t shown, and poor Carrie''s wee face and then he grabbed me again when Charlotte reacted to Big - although I find when Charlotte cries, I automatically get upset - she''s so realistic you feel it - and the bit I found really upsetting was when Sam had to feed her when she was in bed, that broke my heart. If you''ve been in Carrie''s shoes, you understand the sleeping element when you are heartbroken and you can''t function properly. That part bothered my DH the most out of the film.

*sigh*

I just got back. I''m in a new city, so I went out by myself, and I really can''t stress HOW MUCH that movie requires friends with you.

I was near sobbing when Charlotte screamed at Big in the middle of the street. I would have done the same thing, and it broke my heart.

I was laughing out loud at some of the scenes, but at one point I was laughing at the audience. The theater was about half-full, and when Carrie gave Louise her Christmas present, there was one of those collective, surprised, happy sighs from every woman in the theater. That''s not a good description...hmmm. It''s like everybody was getting that extravagant gift (you know that noise?).

Makes me miss my best friend even more, though. She''s calling in a few hours so we can talk about it.

When she was telling Miranda about the article and how she never said "we" at all, and realized he wanted HER and did not need to have the fancy stuff, she did see how some of it was her fault...she got caught up. He was scared, but I think at the venue that day he would have done it if he had a chance to talk to her a moment. But it still was cowardly to do to her, as he loved her and knew it would hurt her.

nebe, I''ll bet you never expected a response like this but THANK YOU! I wanted to know only one thing about the movie and I read down to that point and then stopped because I really want to see the movie myself but probably won''t be able to for another week because I''m having surgery in a couple of days. I really REALLY needed to know if Big came through for Carrie in the end, and he did.......... Ahhhhhhhhh, now I can relax! Thanks!!

I kind of know the rest anyway. I''ve been reading entirely too much about the movie for the past few months. Whatever I may have missed in my reading? I can wait for.

I really really liked it and cried the whole time. My friends did as well, and one of them has never even seen an episode! She surprised herself!

I actually really liked Miranda''s hair at the wedding... it was so flippy and cute! And I loved the jeweled comb or barrette or whatever she had in it. It was pretty. I was mad at her though for leaving Steve. I just didn''t understand it, I guess. I cried a lot when they met on the bridge.

Samantha bothered me though. I just didn''t get her issues. Of course, I never really got her during the show either so I guess that''s about right, but eh.... I am glad though that she realized that she needed to be herself.

I''m glad Charlotte had her baby, finally, but I did sort of gag that their two daughters are Lilly and Rose. I don''t know... too cheesy for me. If they have another will it be Petunia? I really like Harry though, I just really dig him, and the way he was with Carrie at the hospital was great.

Ah, Carrie and Big... I was so mad at him! SO MAD! Yeah, yeah, I know.... but I was ANGRY. And I''m glad that it worked out and all that, but I was very relieved to have the husband that I have and my friend felt the same way. We left grateful to be married to our husbands.

It was a great movie and I''m so glad I saw it in the theaters! The reaction of the crowds was great too.

Aww, thanks, Po. I''ve actually been relying on PS a lot the past few weeks. I haven''t been posting a lot, but even just reading I feel like I''m part of a conversation and a group of friends. It''s been nice.

I saw it Friday am. (and H went along!)

Loved it - every single frame. But as much as I loved the series and I know this show was
about JSP, I wanted the movie to include the other 3 a little more, but then again, I didn''t
write it. I guess it was all about Carrie and Big.

Did anyone else notice that SJP was the only one who didn''t do any nude shots?
For the life of me I "think" Charlotte did, but I can''t place the scene.

I agree, Cynthia Nixon, could have looked better. But considering the time of life
her character was playing, I guess it fits that she look droopy. But she did have a few
shining moments.

I want the swimsuit Charlotte had on - the pink one! Loved it.
