Finally have this little guy set, although not in its forever home. (I was working on a custom setting w/DG but needed to divert that money elsewhere. My poor little cat needs surgery!)

I had this x-prong style I was hoping to melt down for something else, and the local jeweler I use made it work, for the most part. (Prongs are wonky, so I’ll be dropping at back off Monday for some revisions)

I’m actually surprised that I like this thick band. The flat court is so comfortable and reminds me of ribbon, and the hefty weight is sort of reassuring. I’ve always gone for thin and delicate so this is a real departure.

Anyhow it’s 1.07 F VS2 AVC in 9 grams of 18k gold. On my short and stubby sausages. Also a pic of Kuma, my actual precious. Thanks for looking!

Oooh that’s lovely! Love them both

Looks very pretty!

So pretty! And beautiful baby!

I'm digging it.
I love a substantial ring- I'm a hand thwacker and I also need to get more substantial settings myself. I would've had them add a matte finish, but I'm mad for matte, soooo.

Thanks, it’s really growing on me, the thickness. Still undecided on the high polish. When I can finally get around to that custom setting, I’m not sure I’ll go for high polish again.

This is gorgeous I love the sleek simplicity. I also totally understand expensive cat vet bills. She's a beauty!

It looks really cool! And your kitty is gorgeous :kiss2:

Thank you for the kind words. It was heartbreaking finding out he has hip dysplasia at not even two years old :cry2: Both legs.

Oh, poor baby! Good luck with the surgery!

It's beautiful! Hope your cat feels better soon.

I love how this has turned out & I'm another fan of a hefty ring.

Wishing your beautiful kitty all the best for surgery.

AVCs are so beautiful and it looks great on your hand! The gold is very flattering to the stone.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I really appreciate it.

Looks beautiful @Alybetter!! I love the substantial setting! And it looks great with the band. Perfect way to enjoy your pretty diamond until you get your permanent setting.

Kuma is so sweet, sending good thoughts on his surgery. <3

Thank you so much, junebug! I’m a bit anxious about the surgery, but he’s young so he’s got a lot of life left to live. Couches to destroy, dogs to annoy, etc. And thanks for you comments on the ring. I actually really like this setting and I may adjust my custom setting parameters to incorporate a flat, thicker band.

I love it :kiss2: your avc is gorgeous and how great a wider bands - just so comfortable and they look fabulous! I'm with you re: high polished bands, I tend to prefer a satin finish with a wider gold band because, for me, the high shine of the band tends to visually compete with diamond. I have a gypsy set avc and I had the band satin finished, and as I've worn my ring the satin finish has worn and become more polished over time but it's still a really soft finish. I realise this setting for you is a temp band but it really does look awesome!
Sending best wishes for your kitty's op in Feb, I'm sure it will be a great success! =)2

Thank you. I love a gypsy ring with a satin or even brushed finish! I’ll go hunting to see if you’ve posted yours.

Georgie - Do you find that that satin finish on your Gypsy ring wears unevenly or shows scratches easily? I’ve been deeply considering asking the jeweler to put a satin finish on this ring. But I’m conflicted because I’m reading that it shows scratches easily and needs to be re-finished quite often. Can you share your experience with me?

Hi @Alybetter yes I had read that too when I was researching different finishes, but I haven't noticed scratches anymore than I have on any other rings that I have that are high polished. I think you would probably have to give your ring a pretty hard scrape along something to really notice a scratch. I do notice really, really teeny tiny marks in certain lighting but I don't think it's something anyone else would notice. The great thing about gold is how flexible the finishes can be, so if you had yours satin finished and then decided you didn't like it, it's a pretty easy process to get it polished if you wanted to. I loved my satin finish and if I wasn't so lazy I'd send it off and get it redone again as it is developing a higher shine now after some wear. Actually for me the only downside is that it only lasted about a year, but I wear my ring pretty much everyday so I guess it gets daily buffing!

Thanks so much for the info! I will be wearing this daily, too. I think I’m going to do it. I always take my rings off for cleaning, work, etc.

Oh gosh that ring is luscious. I actually really like the thick band with it!

Best of luck to your furbaby.

Love the architecturalness (is that a word)? So used to seeing AVCs in vintage or skinny bands. Yours is a nice variation. Looks super comfortable too.

I like it! I like the wider band and it looks great with your 7 stone! Your kitty is the real beauty though!:kiss2:
