Hi, I have purchased a 2nd hand designer ring from USA, and am wondering if anyone has advice on the best way to ship/post the item to Australia. Or, if anyone can tell me of there own experiences regarding shipping to australia. I have already found out all the information i needed regarding customs/ gst etc, however the seller has had contradicting information from USPS, one person saying that it can be sent, and then went he toook the parcel to the post office the person told him it was prohibited. I look forward to hearing from anyone who might be able to help, as we are just trying to find out what is best?? Thanks

can you pls clarify, are you in Aust and the seller in the US?

If it's jewellery, I cannot see how it can possibly be "prohibited" - I receive jewellery packages from the US all the time, using USPS (various services) and Fedex.

If you can pls clarify/more info? how much is the piece worth, would you like it to be insured when shipped, etc?

HI, yes I am in australia and the seller is in the USA. The ring when purchased originally in 2005 had a relacement value of $9850 US, according to the tiffany documentation. Both myself and the seller just want the item securely sent to myself, yet he seems to get conflicting information from USPS. Like I said I know that jewellery is not prohibited into Australia, and I have spoken to customs finding out all about the gst and customs duty etc, but it just seems the seller is being given the run around. I am hoping someone can help us with what is best. Thanks

Maybe you need it sent by Fedex or UPS?

yeah, ditto ask him to contact FedEx - it will cost you more but also be alot quicker.
Perhaps where he is getting into trouble is the value of the item? I know from experience that its a 5k
limit on anything to be sent by Australia Post. maybe USPS has a similiar rule?

Either that, or just go to another post office, lol..
