Should I add laser inscription to lab sapphire?

I will be purchasing a white lab sapphire that I found out will be without laser inscription. The vendor is offering to inscribe the stone for me, but I'm unsure if it'll be better without the inscription to prevent cracking/chipping in the long run. To my understanding, the inscription will be somewhere that will be exposed and possibly to hit/bang against in my jewelry, which is why I worry about chips.

Is there a benefit to have the item with or without inscription? I do not plan to sell the ring, but assume I'll pass it down in the family at some point.

Is it some boutique cut stone they put their trademark or mm on?
Or you mean like a lab report number?

I wouldn’t feel much of a way on former and none on latter.

What's the point? Its lab created. No resale value whatsoever. Is this jeweler offering to do this for a cost? If he/she is, there you have it. Milking you for more money, unless you asked first?
