Hello I have a chance to pic a used ring. The information I have is aprox 2ct k-l and I1

This is the add

"I have for sale an approx 2 carat genuine diamond solitaire in a white gold setting. Ring size 8.5 re-sizable. Diamond is 8.12 mm wide, very nicely cut and I1 clarity however NO eye visible inclusions at all. The inclusions are tiny black carbon that are only visible under magnification. The only reason it is a 1I clarity is because there are quite a few specs under magnification. Color is K-L but faces up very bright, great fire! K-L color is a slight yellow hue only noticeable beside a very white diamond. This diamond is some serious bang for your buck."

she is going to send me more pictures and meet me at a jeweler store to confirm it is real and in the range of what she says.

I can get it for pretty close to $2000 Canadian dollars. I know the specs arn't the best but it still seems like an ok deal for the price what do you guys think?

Never buy an ungraded stone without any confirmation of what it is. The specs are always worse than stated by the seller. If your dollar is similar to ours, $2000 is too good to be true. I wouldn't take the risk unless you meet the person at an independent jewelry appraiser's office so you can get a private valuation on the stone before you pay anything.

If she is claiming that it's 'eye clean' then I would want assurances that the stone has not been clarity enhanced and that there are no durability issues with the stone. The price is quite low and there may be a reason for that. I wouldn't want to meet at her jewelers, I would make an appointment to meet with an independent appraiser and have them evaluate the stone for you. Does the stone come with a report? who issued it? What is the age of the report? If not who determined the color and clarity grades. You need a lot more information before making this purchase.

EDIT posted while DS was responding, so I second everything that she said! ;)

Thank you guys for all your help.

My plan was to pick it up and then get it GIA cert. and try to resell it for a profit but i think I might just stay away from this one thanks.

I think that might be a good idea. It does sound suspicious.
