Should I get an emerald

I agree... I think there might be a slight tilt window, but nothing major. And if you set it, even less so. Yes, god bless emerald for having such a low density. Because the higher grades are so $$$, you can get a fabulous size at a much lower weight. And you can't beat the price you paid! What will you be doing with him (or her)?

If the price is more or less reasonable (I really am clueless in that regard. It is just 0.3ct after all) I will probably keep it. I want it in a ring (I am quickly getting too many rings) but have not decided on a design yet. Early ideas leaning towards YG bezel band. Inspirations:

First of all, I realize this is totally up to me, but I've been debating about this with myself for a while and just couldn't decide! Dear PSers, please lend your opinions.
I love green gems and have a couple green sapphires, tsavorites and chrysoberyls, but have yet to buy an emerald. I do want to because I feel the color and glow it has it very different from other green stones, but I have a couple hesitations:
1. it's more brittle than sapphires and I want to set it in a ring.
2. I heard you need to re-oil it and I have no idea how that works and not sure if I'll be able to keep track of when to do it. Will it hurt the stone if you don't reoil in time?
3. I don't feel confident that I'll be able to tell if it is a good one or if the price is reasonable. I know one should not expect a totally clean emerald, but how much of a "secret garden" is considered reasonable? And does "insignificant" and "minor" clarity enhancement have a big difference that impact decisions (I know above minor is usually considered not good)?
All help and additional advice is much appreciated!

I just learned about myself, that I love green instead of purple (most people do) color. For my opinion, if you love green gemstone then definitely you should have an emerald in your collections. Take time to find the one you like the most, no need to rush as emeralds has different of green shade color. For me i love all gemstones so I have collected all main popular stones; ruby, emerald, tanzanite etc. but i will buy 3 carats or larger even thought I have to take time saving money to be able to buy them -:)

Thank you, emerald color truly is magical…You are absolutely right to save up for bigger stones, I am just impatient:lol-2: Look forward to seeing your beauties!

Here is my emerald ring ; 5.85 carats got it in 2007- it caught my eyes, reminds me a green traffic light and this is a shade color I love. Some day I will get the darker green for my collection4B29B7DF-5648-42E5-B77F-3084508427F6.jpeg

Oooh pretty! Is this an intense green? (Sorry if not, I am new to emerald) it looks almost like a paraiba.

I really don’t know what they call of this green,I bought it with a certificate, original from Zambia. I just love a lighter emerald makes me feel happy and cheerful-:)

So I got my little emerald set, and thought I’d update on this thread. Thanks again to everyone who offered advice!
Since the stone is small I wanted to try out the stacker route, especially as I don’t have any stacker rings yet. I also happened to get three tiny studs so here’s what I got. (It’s a cloudy day today but I couldn’t wait to share the new pretties:P)

Lovely color green! It looks wonderful by itself and stacked. Enjoy!

Wonderful set! So glad your journey has ended well. I love the glow of your emeralds.

@Timor What an excellent way to use a small stone in an impactful way. I love it, and the stacking set!!

They look absolutely fabulous. I actually love these more than huge sparklers - they are elegant and beautiful and you can mix and match them in so many ways. I’m seriously envious. Hope you have lots of fun with them.

I'm so glad you got an emerald! Such a nice one in such a nice setting :)

Thank you:D the glow is also what drew me at first!

Yes! This is my first stacking set. Really happy with how it turned out, and gives some ideas as most of my stones are tiny.

Thank you Ionysis. I played with it for a long time right after I received it:D Agreed that small stones can have big effect, and I actually feel I would wear it more as my wardrobe does not match well with huge sparklers (not that I don’t drool over all the big fellows here on PS :P)

I'm so glad you got an emerald! Such a nice one in such a nice setting :)
Me too! Glad I took that step. Emerald sure does impress.

I keep coming back to look at those three little drops - I just love them.

I have a bunch of little stones that I haven’t known how to set because they are “too small”. This thread makes me think I’ve been very shortsighted. Look how amazing these are. I’m going to dig out my little treasures and review them with a different eye.

Glad to be of a little inspiration:D please do share when you set them (or just the stones, you know:P)

They are called JackGem (with shop & bench in China). The design is inspired by a diamond set from the internet.

What a perfect set. I'm late to the party but the only emeralds I trust myself with are in bands. Yours are so stackable and perfect! 20200920_150426.jpg

Your rings are so beautiful!

Beautiful! Love the color, glow and setting on both stackers.

I want an emerald something of this size or similar size/carat weight. I know you mentioned above the bench, did you happen to get the emeralds from them as well?

@Ionysis - Yes! I agree. Its hard to imagine smaller stone rings-huh? Until someone shows up with that perfectly cute stacker.

Thanks a lot:) And yes I got the stone from them as well.

Love your band! What a nice glow. What is the blue part?

Thank you!

They are French cut diamonds, just the angle!
