should i return this bluenile e-ring?

just got the e-ring, but saw a little black spot with my naked eye!
the diamond is 0.80 ct, H, vs2, ideal cut
i thought VS2 is eye clean, but IT IS NOT!
will the black spot effect the value of the diamond? should i return it?

Can you see the inclusion with your naked eye? If so, I would return but if you cannot and can only see it through a loupe well, that's a personal decision. If you paid for a VS2 stone I can understand why you wouldn't want a central inclusion like that either way. Why don't you post the stats and you can get more opinions.


ETA: Sorry, just saw you wrote you can see it with your naked eye! I would return and start over and PSers would be happy to help you find the perfect stone for you!!!

I would definitely return it ASAP. I would not want a diamond with a black spot that is visible to the naked eye.

Please return it. If you can see it, everyone else could see it. If you post your budget and setting ideas, PSers would be very happy to help you find a fantastic diamond and setting for you.

For me, I would not want to know that everytime I look at my stone, I'll see a black spot - a reminder that this is not the perfect diamond that I thought I bought.

I personally could not deal with a black spot either - just best to return it and start over - why even consider dealing with something like that?

Have you cleaned it? I bought a VS2 diamond from BN and it also had what I thought was a visible inclusion. I was given the suggestion here to clean it, that it was most likely jewelers compound. I cleaned it the black spot went away. Give that a try first!

Return it. Some of us recommend buying from a vendor with magnified pictures and idealscope images and a gemologist who can verify if the stone is eyeclean. You usually can avoid this problem.

You guys are right. I think I can not deal with the black spot either. Every time I saw the ring, I was thinking about the spot. It really bothers me a lot.

send it back and ASAP!!!! I never ever recommend buying a diamond ONLINE from a place that doesn't at least show you pictures. I would consider something like that an SI2. even with an SI1 you should be seeing inclusions at 10x magnification.

dollars to donuts that is what it is if the stone is gia/ags graded and the spot is visible from the top and is the right stone to match the report.
It would be very very very rare for a properly graded vs2 stone in that size to have an eye visible inclusion from the top.
The side yes, that is common.

Take it to a professional and have it cleaned.

If not, it must be gunk.
If you can't clean it off I'd take it to a jeweler for cleaning.
Look at the plot on the lab grading report. (See example below.)

On your grading report is there an inclusion where you see the black spot?
