Should I upgrade or wait?

Yes I'm not sure why the plain settings are so expensive. Unfortunately I have to go with an expensive setting that's at least equal in value to my current one (which was $1500) to take advantage of the 50 percent off upgrade of the setting.

I think the ones that are in that range are the "designer" settings, like Vatche/Tacori/Danhov etc.

You could always eat the cost of the setting and get a temporary one made by David Klass, or a Stuller setting from elsewhere, that is cheaper. Since you'll have to pay at least $750 either way, from what I can see? Since they won't be refunding you the cost of the setting, perhaps have them return it to you and get either a coloured stone or a CZ/moissy to turn into a travel ring?

Alternately, if you have to spend at least $1500, perhaps upgrading and getting a halo setting is the way to go? Though I glanced over the settings and the only one I liked in the $1500-1700 was in white metal (can't remember if it was WG or plat).

Yes, my current ring is a Danhov setting.

I was thinking instead of upgrading to the larger stone I could add a halo or cluster instead. Whiteflash does custom settings so I thought I'd could speak with them and see which option they'd recommend (the K stone or a halo).
