Certainly weird. The diamond is pretty ugly even without the side cut off!

That seller is in my town. He does get some weird stuff in from time to time, but I''ve actually bought 3 different rings from him that I was able to get at excellent prices.

Surrreeeee it is a D diamond. LOL. Sure looks like a round that got its side bitten off. Thanks for the link. Nice chuckle

YIKES!!!

That''s pretty funny. Looks like a RB got chipped, and they smoothed it out and are trying to sell it as a real cut.

Definately looks like it cracked and this was the "repair". I suppose if your name starts with a D you could set it in a pendant setting to highlight the D shape- LOL.

Excerpt from the bottom of the auction:

"Here is a very unusual diamond, that weighs 1.90 carats alone. We just bought this from an estate dealer, and he asked me if id ever seen a D shaped diamond? This stone is a K color (slight tint of yellow) and a SI2 clairty. I actually had about 7 years ago, I had a stone that a lady hit with a hammer when she divorced her husband- that was a great story- she also cut holes in all of his suits. My diamond cutter- Polished a long facet on the broken side, and it actually looked alot like this stone. It is set in a 14k yellow gold settin g with 2 tapered baguettes that total .14carats. If you want a deal on an unusual diamond ring- This is it! Thanks and Good Luck. "

LOL. Can you imgaine knowing the history of the used diamond before you bought it? I don''t think I could ever buy a diamond with that kind of story behind it!

sheesh!

Yeah, it looks like someone smashed it in a car door. I really HEAVY car door, then tried to polish it and make it look like "no really, I meant it to look that way. No really!" Did you see the close up? No way is that an SI2.

What I can''t figure out is why anyone would want to bid on this ''diamond''
it''s received 15 bids!

So this one is for people who can''t decide between an RB and a Radiant/Princess--it''s the best of both worlds!!
11.gif
Or maybe the worst...

Is it just a half-moon?

musey, it's a 3/4 moon! Wait, no! It's a new branded cut called "The Eclipse"

Ugly, this belongs in the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Euw. Gotta love the story about the woman and her hammer...poor diamond, when hubby was so near by, why take it out on the defenseless piece of carbon? (just kidding, of course)...but honestly, such an odd looking stone I would not know what to do with it but I imagine there is a better setting than a solitaire.

I imagine it would look better in a lock-box. lol.

Right....ooookay.

That''s also NOT an SI2.

It could be viewed as a peculiar half moon if one were so inclined, no?

Ok you cut experts...if this is the one that was hammered...(hammer time-you can''t touch this...)
and it was actually chopped off, how would that effect the performance of the stones sparkle as a whole? Aren''t facets entire length important?

I realize this is not pertinent here...you can visually see the clarity and warmth...it is not a premium cut. But in general, if it were... Can you actually chop off damage as if you were cutting a brusie off a tomato? Oh, and still maintain performance?

DKS

I think it would definitely affect the performance. And really, you''d have to be nuts to do that. This seller would be better off to have it recut, at least then she might get something for it. But, there''s a sucker born every minute, so who knows. Maybe the seller will get something out of it.

D for disgusting! what kind of crazies bid on that ugly ring? can you imagine telling people the story behind that "thing"?
