Show me your "bully" breeds!

Girlface... I just LOVE your bulldogs! They're gorgeous.

So here's one more of Hera... Crate training is SOOOOO stressful.

@ Girlface: Your Boris is such a handsome boy!

I haven't been on pricescope in a while and just came on to look for dog food recommendations for my new puppy. I'm excited to see this thread and love all the adorable dogs!

Of course, I can't resist sharing a few pictures of our new baby, Josie. We got her at the local shelter two weeks ago, we think shes a pit bull mix, about 10 week old (animal control found her on the street). We took her for her first walk on a leash yesterday and were joking about how she's such a "vicious" dog (please note the sarcasm)--she was so desperate to play with every single person and dog that we passed.

While I'm here, does anyone have a good food they want to recommend?

I rotate among the various Innova EVO flavors and occasionally mix it up with TOTW Wetlands or Prairie so my dog doesn't get bored with having the same kind. When he was younger I fed him Orijen Puppy.

Your puppy may have soft stools for the first couple of months as she adjusts to her new home and goes through the teething phase. That's normal and shouldn't cause too much worry. If you rotate foods, however, transition gradually from each one to the next, as abrupt shifts can aggravate diarrhea.

(edit: and congratulations on adopting such an adorable shelter pup!)

Laine! She's gorgeous! Oh my gosh, that first picture is beyond words adorable. I love her squat little puppy body--I just want to pick her up and snuggle!

Their coloring is totally different, but her face really reminds me of my PIt mix Bailee. So cute! And those ears slay me! I love them.

We feed Bailee a raw diet, which is a huge amount of work. But it's really wonderful for her.

oh.my.gosh, she is just adorable laine!!!

if Josie would ever like a summer holiday in Australia, please send her to aunty AJ :D :appl:

what an adorable, lovable pup - you must be ecstatic with her, and this thread is bad for my puppy want!

Laine - :appl: :appl: She is just precious!! Congrats to you for rescuing her and to her for finding her way to you! Gosh, she just melts my heart. I love her!!! Hope you come back to PS often with pics of Josie as she grows up!

Liane - what a cutie!! All head and paws and ears ::)

Thanks LV, AJ, Haven and Liane! She really is a sweet puppy, though the "innocent" look she has going in the first picture is just an act! She's quickly learning the meaning of "no" and that the cats don't really want to play with her. She's growing so fast--I'll definitely share more pictures! Perhaps one of her Halloween costume (yes, I tortured her with a costume, just this once).

Liane--thanks for the website, it looks really informative! I'll have to check it out tonight when I have more time.

Phooey. I did mean you *laine!

Laine! Kudos to you for adopting from a shelter. She is adorable. I can imagine how cuddly she is. Keep us updated on her development. They grow so fast!

What a sweetheart Laine!!!

Girlface- How handsome is Boris!?! He looks like a regal king sitting upon a throne! ::)

Nitro says woof. He'd love to play with all the puppies in this thread.

Just wanted to add that Natura has been purchased by P&G, which means Innova and Evo are now made by P&G. DH & I used to get Evo for our kitties, but our local natural pet store is considering discontinuing the line. As of now there haven't been any changes to the formula, but it's expected that the quality might decline.

As far as dry kibble goes, we like Acana and Avoderm... Avoderm is now available at bigger pet chains, so if you happen to run out it's easy to grab a little bag. Oh! And Taste of the Wild!

I'm sure Hera would love to play with Nitro... but she's scared of dogs. Now she's not scared of the 240 lb mastiffs at the breeders, but God forbid a 30 lb dog come too close. She's really curious, but super apprehensive.

@ redfaerythinker:

Here's Nitro at 12 weeks old playing with Zoey the mastiff @ Doggy daycare :D He would seriously adore Hera !

Nitro is such a cutie! It's so hard to believe that my "little" Hera will be that big. She's already 21 lbs at 11 weeks though! :o

DH & I were flipping through a dog book at a local bookstore last night. They divided it into sections based on certain dog traits: Guard Dogs, Family Dogs, Runners, etc, etc, etc. Now, I know that *all* dogs can probably fit into all categories, depending on their upbringing... buuuut...

American Staffordshire Terriers were in the "Smart Dogs" section (not the Guard Dog section) Point for the bullies!

Mastiffs were in the "Big Dogs" section ;)) I can't believe Hera is already so big! 21lbs?! Random question, but do Mastiffs swim? Do they have webbed paws?

Yep, she's gonna be big, around 200 lbs. And I'm pretty sure she won't be able to swim. I don't think she has webbed paws, but i'd have to check. And as far as swimming goes, her 240 lb father once jumped into the breeder's pool... and sank like a rock. So I don't know how much swimming will be in Hera's future. I'm fairly sure that her dad sank because he's massive and very muscular. Since she's a female she won't be as bulky so she may have a shot at floatation. And hey, we can always give her lots of treats to fatten her up so she'll float! :Up_to_something:

Ugh, thanks for reminding me about this. I remember someone telling me about it when the sale initially went through, but I totally forgot in the meantime. My dog's doing great on EVO and so far the formula hasn't changed at all, but yeah, after the 2007 melamine disaster I just don't have any trust for big pet-food corporations anymore. I'll probably switch him soon.
