This year I have been bad...but my pearl collection is quite happy.

So far a pair of South Sea buttons from @molinePDG (so satin, I feel like a queen), a pair of hanadama akoya studs from PearlSource...and a akoya caged necklace for my Christmas from hubby, and a necklace for the niece, and a follow up pair of golden champaign SS 9mm. Since I only have two ears...I need to stop.

I started this thread to stop posting my hauls on other people threads. Feel free to post your pretties below.

@MMtwo I love them all! I can't wait to see those champagne SS!
Pearls are so classic and luxurious.
The cage pendant is really nice! Its so unusual.....

So my two indulgences recently are the 7mm Hanadamas and the 9mm silver Tahitians

Custom sea of Cortez baroque pearl necklace from Cortez Pearls, extras bought from Yssie and then she added 2 akoya. Pearl Paradise created it.

And then matching earrings from the same company:

aghhh, those Tahitians are giving me impulse control problems. I already have 2 pair of tahitian studs and Kamoka drops. I. do. not. need. more.

But my grey studs don't exactly match :) OCD detail. One has a greener overtone. No one will ever notice it on my ear (okay...maybe a PSer would)

How lovely, I missed the necklace before. Those are so special. I like them with the akoya for contrast.

Again, the luster is what pops out. Really pretty.

No pearls this year except for a very inexpensive flameball slider pendant from Wen pearl.

I am ogling at everyone else's treasure though, please keep them coming!

DK :))

When does "meant for Christmas" start?
After 2018/2019 I said I was "all pearled out". 2020 - I didn't buy much of anything other than pearls!

I got my gateway akoya - my first strand of gemmy akoya, 8-8.5mm - from Andrew Moline in... March? Ish?
Then a pair of light GSS rounds (11-12mm) for drop earrings - also from Andrew.
Then a pair of GSS round studs (10-11mm) from Pearl Paradise.
Loved the South Seas so much, I had to get a pair of WSS round studs too. Bought a pair from Andrew, they didn't work out, bought a pair from Pearl Paradise (11-12mm) and they were perfect.
Then a pair of blue Tahitian round studs (10-11mm) from Pearl Paradise.
A pair of As-Big-As-Akoya-Get-Without-Costing-Half-A-House studs has been on my list for a long time. I hoped they came a bit bigger than my older 9-9.5mm pair, that another lovely PSer now owns, but I'd never seen any that didn't sacrifice on luster... Andrew was able to dig up a gemmy pair of 9.7mm that will one day have to pried off my stiff dead earlobes ::)
Then a surprise double-strand of 6-6.5mm gemmy akoya (it was on the wishlist as a "one day", "one day" came sooner than expected) from Andrew that six of us PS pearls girls split  - @MakingTheGrade has shared pics of these!!
Then two sets of loose Tahitian rounds - a larger lot from Andrew, and a small handful from Pearl Paradise - that will go into two bracelets. These Tahitians... These are my once in a lifetime pearls. These, and my SoC bracelet, and my new akoya studs, and my old Little H emerald earrings - my heart pearls.
And one last indulgence for the year... Fernando from the Cortez farm is helping me find a pair of baroques for drop earrings :sun:

I've learnt so much about pearls this year, and I'm definitely finding that the more I know, the more interesting they become

My old 9mm black Tahitian studs don't match either. And it was bothering me. One was steely and one was greenish. I bought them loose many years ago from JTV, and set them myself.
They are ok. But you guys are total enablers, and so I started looking for better ones.

Are you sure? They’re like the fancy diamonds or opals of pearl world. I love watching the different colors shift on mine!

I went on a pearl binge this winter..

A killer collection!
You (and Shale) inspired me to start wearing my pearls again.

Here are my new pearl studs, originally from Pearl Paradise...white with pink iridescence, 9mm, given to me by hubby for my birthday. I'll be wearing these all Christmas! 20200924_105514.jpg20200924_173523.jpg

Stunning!!!

Editing to add these beautiful pearls were bought preloved by the lovely @yssie

It is a privilege to see so many wonderful pearls from all corners of the world - and an even nicer feeling to have helped find and provide some of them. :)

Looking forward to seeing PHOTOS of everyone's stuff, wherever it may have come from, and wishing all pearl-loving PSers a great holiday and good health, always.

The golden SS studs (champaign) from PearlSource have arrived. I wanted something inexpensive to wear with the baby golden ss pearl necklace I bought from Wendy @ Pearlescence uk some time back. I have posted a picture beside @molinePDG 's white ss buttons.

So pretty! They look great!
Are you happy with them?

@MakingTheGrade HAHAHA....enabler! I swear you would make the best pearl model. Those akoya are so special. I love them. They really glow from within. You are right about Tahitians, they are very special. I'm trying to be good. Trying.

Thank you...I'm sort of struggling to figure out how I feel. I don't feel the love like I usually do, but not sure if it is me or the pearls. The GSS studs are much less lustrous than the necklace. Jury is still out :)

@bling_dream16 they look LOVELY on you. What pretty pearls. I love the lustre. They will look great all Season.

@yssie wow...what a pearl adventure you've been on. Yeah, feel free to bend that "Christmas" timeline to any place you like. I believe I have seen the new akoya studs...I contacted Andrew afterwards :) I look forward to the wonderful pictures of your new bracelets. For you to say once in a lifetime...these must be amazing. I can't wait.

Heh...enablers?! I think you really did well with the tahitians and the Handamas this year. Both beautiful.

Thanks for all of your lovely pearls!

Thank you @MMtwo ❤ I'll post pics here as soon as they're done and strung!

Can I be honest? I think what makes pearls special - the luster, the iridescence - those aren't worth sacrificing. Even a sale price isn't worth it if you have to talk yourself into liking what you bought. I can see the difference between the pearls in your necklace and the new studs - the necklace glows. Did Pearl Source send you photos before shipping out? Can you exchange for an alternate pair?
I really like the colour on you. That light champagne. It's beautiful on your skin  I'd love to see you in a champagne pair with this same body but a stronger pink overtone - that picks up the rose in your skin and glows

Thank you so much for that honest feedback. I'll make a call to the vendor and see what I can work out. You are 100% right, there is a shine/lustre disparity between the necklace and studs.
Thank you for the color feedback too.

So @yssie is pretty much the pearl fairy! These pearls arrived on my birthday in June and they definitely cheered up a birthday that was otherwise shaping up to be a total fizzer! I had 18kt white gold posts added and I wear them with my OECs. A lovely, 'take you anywhere' kind of pair of earrings.

Bless your little cotton socks, @yssie!

Are these Sea of Cortez? Another beautiful pair of pearls. You ladies are the best! Love the pictures.

:appl: :appl: :appl: this is definatly the site of enablers

last night for some unknown reason i watched the Coronation street 60 year special
now i havn't really watched it since my grandma died in the late 70s
but it struck me how people used to wear pearls on a regular basis
all that faux stuff (or real) in the 80s was so much fun

Good lord that barmaid with the big blond hair used to pile on the bling :mrgreen2:
it was so much fun
and of course the Coro weddings all had pearls right back in the B&W days

Who would have thought Coronation Street would have provided me with pearl eye candy

anyway lovelly pearl ladies keep posting
im not getting pearls for Christmas so i have to live through all of you
