Show Me Your Diamond Studs!

Yes, I can tell the difference. Aside from that, what do you want me to say?

Lol! Well, I know you wouldn''t choose based on the size difference, but what if I tell you the .70''s are 54/62 table/depth and the .75''s are 56/61? The .75''s actually had every single spec I was initially looking for: H VS2, 56 t, less than 62 depth, (both pair are AGS0).

I''d probably pick the .75''s.

BUT, you get to see them. Do they behave the same?? If so, and if the price difference was worth it, and the diameter is not affected by the depth, I might get the first.

The price difference is about $600 more for the .75 stones. I''ll lose some money on the settings on the first pair, though. The diameter average of the .70''s is 5.7 mm and about 5.87 mm on the .75''s. The finish is better on the settings on the .75''s but that can really only be seen with a loupe.

Yes the new ones look bigger and I think there is a mind difference too since the first ones are smaller than what you had before. Get the new pair, you know you''ll be happier!!!

Honestly, if you hadn''t posted the first pic of the .75s, I wouldn''t have been able to tell. They both look gorgeous!

ds, at this point, what''s a few (several) hundred more?

Seriously, get the ones you like better, mentally. Otherwise, you''ll be back here in a month or two posting more studs.

Thanks Sundial, FF, and Ellen! You are right, Ellen, it is worth it to get exactly what I want. I know I''d be always thinking about upgrading if I didn''t get what I want now. I guess I need to be thankful these came up while I can still return the others. Otherwise I''d be having all kinds of regrets on settling for less than what I really wanted. I''ll try to get some better pictures when the sun comes out.

Even though I am like Ellen and am little diamond size conscious, these stones are so beautiful that you just think they could be a liiiiiiittle bigger! Haha!

I think the $600 is worth it for the better stones myself.

I don''t know that you''ll have to lose money on the settings, though - the .75s should fit into the .70 settings no problem. Ask about it.

Alj, the stones are from different vendors. I wasn't loving the settings on the .70's anyway, so I didn't want to reuse them even if I had to keep the settings after returning the earrings.

Thanks, though, I think you're right about the .75's being worth the price difference.

J- maybe you can put some gemstones in the first setting. I do think both sizes look HUGE in your itty ear but knowing you, you will regret it if you don''t get the .75s.

S-thanks! If I had stuck with my original specs, I wouldn''t have any to return now! So I do think I''ll be happier! And that''s a great idea about putting gemstones in the extra setting. I can do that for my daughter''s birthday or something.

Diamondseeker, it sounds like you should keep the .75s.

You sound so much happier with them, and if you keep the others, then you will always be looking for something a bit better. In the long run, I'd spent the extra $$ and lose the money on the settings to keep you happy and content

Michelle, I have to keep relearning that I should always be patient and wait until the perfect thing comes along rather than settle for something that wasn''t quite right! You''d think I''d eventually get that, but I am a slow learner! I think I''m on the right track now, though! Thanks!

Maybe we can find some sapphires at the gemstone (or her birthstone).

Well I won''t have my earrings back for a long time.
8.gif
We ran into alot of trouble.
15.gif
It will be 2-5 weeks before I get them back. And they might not even be what I wanted. Sucks for me I guess, heh.
38.gif
I''m so sorry! What happened?
It''s actually a long story. I sent the earrings back to the jewelers because I wanted the mountings exchanged for platinum. Well somehow someway the wrong address got put on the package, yet it was the address listed on the invoice and the address on the business card. So the package got down there and couldn''t be delivered so the UPS shipping carrier had to hold it over last weekend and ship it back this way for it to get a new address put on it and then it has to be shipped back down again and hopefully this time it will make it. I am a litttle worried about the whole process. SO I ended up paying for 2 day air Insured was like 52 dollars and it ended up being 2 weeks instead of 2 days. Not only this but the UPS people have not returned alot of my phone calls regarding the Issue and the jeweler wasn''t either for a while. Untill we finally got a hold of him and he said that he''s very sorry but they recently moved hince the other address. And i''m just like well after this amount of time it''s good to know what''s actually going on! But the earrings won''t even make it to the jewelers untill next Tuesday or so. Then I have a 1-4 week wait after that, so it''s just kind of like give me my earrings already! lol. I keep telling my fiance by the time they actually get here im gonna be like eh I got earrings.

Not a ear shot, because I haven''t given them to my wife yet - ear shot to come in July (10th Anniversary).

WF Ready Set 1ctw. Used WF after all the positive posts on PS, they were very helpful and the whole prcess made me relax about buying diamonds over the internet.

Thanks everyone.

ds, you could get really nice color amythest for a low price. Purple would make great studs.

rjdodd, Beautiful! I know she'll love them.

Very true! I figure either amethyst or blue topaz will be inexpensive.

Yay for you! I think that is a great anniversary gift and you got much nicer stones than you would have ever found in a regular jewelry store!

Okay, after all that discussion I did go for the .75 each pair of WF ACA''s! They just had all the specs I was looking for, and I couldn''t pass them up! They are a comfortable size for me, not too big and not too small. Of course, it would always be nice to have mutiple pairs of different sizes, but...! So here''s an earshot of a .75 ct. stone ( from a 1.5 ctw pair, H VS2, 5.86mm)

Hope I am not breeching rules by posting another''s jewels here; but I thought I''d add Diamondtiffs new 6.70 studs in this earring thread

bump for any more recent earring acquisitions!

Here are mine laying on the counter. They are WF RSG in .5 ctw. I love them. I do have an ear shot in another thread, but I can''t seem to find it to attach here.
