Beautiful!!!
When we found out we were having our first bub (ten years ago), my lovely hubbie got me a precious pair of .5ctw studs. I wore them daily and, while they’re not PS quality, they sparkled and were such a luxury at the time, a true treat.
This year, I passed them along to my 10-year old daughter, and I got two .56s as upgrades. The settings were made by JACAFineJewelry, who I would absolutely recommend. Platinum, 6-prong. They are so fine and perfect and look huuuuge to me.
My *just delivered* 0.6CTW J VS1 ACA YG martini studs with petite claw prongs from Whiteflash!! They are little stunners!!! They’re my first pair of diamond studs; I’m in love. I’m so happy with their size and presence on my ears. I almost went 0.8CTW but I’m glad I stuck with my gut and trusted I had small lobes.
I purchased the most beautiful pair of 3.71 ctw H VS1/VS2 ACAs from Whiteflash but immediately thought they would have been more impactful and that I should have gone larger… my most loving and supportive husband is now saying I should upgrade to 6 ctw (see picture enclosed).
This leads me to the following question: to all of you who upgraded your studs through Whiteflash… what did you do with your previous setting? Does WF have a buy-back policy for the old setting?
Thanks!
I personally would stay under 3 cts each due to the price jump. Your ear lobes are tiny, too! To answer your question, no, WF doesn’t take trade-ins on settings other than to offer you the melt value of the metal. I’ve upgraded several times. I have kept most of my previous settings in case I decide to set stones for my daughters. Otherwise I will just try to sell them on LT eventually.

Thanks! That’s very helpful. I wouldn’t even know what the melt value is, but judging from your answer, I’m inferring that it is a relatively small portion of the total cost?
Yes, the metal value is a fraction of the actual cost of settings. That's why I've generally saved mine instead of taking the metal value. If I end up never using them, then maybe all of mine together will be the cost of one platinum setting pair!
My WF studs are 1.6 cts each and also H VS1/VS2! I'd love to see the size of yours on your ears if you have a picture!
Those are gorgeous! I love them in all sizes, but certainly, upgrading is wonderful! Those would be a great next size for me! I do think in ACAs, even 2.5 cts each is pretty large and likely would look very large on your small earlobes. The ones you have must be around 7.8mm or so, and ACA 2.5 cts is about 8.7mm which is a pretty big increase. Do you know the diameter measurements of the 3 ct ones you tried on?

Wow! I’d be lucky to just get a chance to try on a pair that size.My wife tried on 6+ TCW studs at a local jewelry store-G color. They were incredible, but not $290,000 incredible!
I got her a set of BGD 4.3 TCW studs in M color. Sure, they don't "quite" have the pop of the G color studs but are still a great size and color! Just a hint of vanilla in there instead of the "icy" G color.
I am pretty sure the $265,000 we saved could be enjoyed elsewhere! The G studs at $290k is a "I have more money than I know what to do with" price. (not that any online vendor would charge $290k for a set of 6 TCW studs-overhead is expensive in a store location).

Out of curiosity - at such a large size - do the diamonds not stick out too much if set as studs? Does anyone have an opinion on what size diamonds protrude too much from a side view to not look so great in a stud setting?
