I have been a massive fan of pricescope and over the years it has been my point of reference for viewing new e-rings / jewelery in general.

The beautiful/gorgeous pave rings set & created By Steve Kirsch, Leon Mage, Victor Canera &recently Vanessa Nicole has been my favorites. I knew I wasn't going to go for a tiffany, harry winston, or de beers.. Now, the time has come when I'm now able to create my e-ring :) but soon realised the daunting task of deciding to either have my ring created in the US or find a really good jeweler in the UK.

Now since, I've always liked the pave rings & I know they are known to cause some problems ( i still would like them anyway :) ) it would be a good idea to find a jeweler locally where i can take it back for repairs if ever required in the future.

I've been to Hatton Garden in London but I haven't received any recommendations as great as Steve Kirsch, Victor Canera & etc.

I would be forever grateful if you show me your ring created in London and recommend a reputable pave master jeweler who will set my e-ring ( i have my own round diamond),

Anyone??

Didn't want to leave you unanswered but i am currently getting my engagement ring custom made in london by a guy that does work for the bond street retailers. he is making me a cast next week and it should be finished in 2 weeks so will hopefully have some pictures to post then.

I don't really rate hatton gardens to be honest, i've had minor repairs done by bentley and skinner in Piccadilly and have found them to be very good. They have an in-house bench. Not sure if they do complete custom work and they are on the expensive side.
I'll post some pics when my ring is finished. Good Luck, would be interested to hear how you get on.

Hi, sorry, no advice to post here. Just wanted to say I am also looking for rings in London UK. I haven't been to Hatton Garden yet, a bit put off by the stories on PS. Looking forward to seeing the custom ring and any reccomendations for London based Jewellers!

Hi Kathness! Huge congratulations on the engagement ring hunt!

I don't have any pave on my rings, but i have a full eternity ring that was made bespoke by a jeweller in Hatton Garden, but my husband can't remember who made it & their paperwork is now with the insurance company  He did say however, that it was a bit of a struggle to find someone to execute exactly what he wanted! The first couple of people he met with we're a bit blasé & he wouldn't hunt around there again. Just his personal experience though :))

My new setting for my pear diamond however, was made in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham and they were a DREAM to deal with. There are a huge amount of clever goldsmiths around there, so may I suggest you do a Goggle for their jewellery quarter & then jump onto some websites? This is what we did regarding my pear, until we found someone we were confident with & who's work looked fab. We are from Cheshire, so making a trip to either was a long way, but Birmingham was very much worth it. If you click on my posts under my name, you'll see one about my pear re-set. You'll also see the before pics on a previous thread, so you can see the difference in design etc.

Good luck!
AT.

Thank you very much beachavendrea!

Do let me know how you get on with your engagement ring, I have found some recommendations from friends who said perhaps the following two jeweler makers might be of an interest. I haven't visited them yet, they are based at Hatton Garden.

- John of hatton garden ( http://www.brownbook.net/business/1898290/john-of-hatton-garden)
- Anna James (http://www.diamondwise.co.uk/Jewellers/London/Anna-James/48)

I've contacted some of the jewelers from Bond street, and check if they set diamonds on their settings or if they do custom design with a diamond at hand. One of the jewelers i emailed http://www.luciecampbell.com/ didn't even responded to my email and i had to call them to get an answer.

Ladyroho - should collectively, post things we find on this thread, hopefully would help others in the future. I will keep posting what i find here. Astley Clarke (http://www.astleyclarke.com/)does custom engagement rings and you can bring your own diamond. I'm not sure how much it would cost yet, a friend is going with them to design her engagement ring and sourcing their diamonds from hatton garden

Hi Alex - thanks you very much for your recommendation, i have heard of Birmingham Quarters, I may have to schedule a visit and roam a round :). Your oval re-set ring looks gorgeous!!

Out of interest do Lucie Campbell do custom work? did they quote you a price? The ring I am getting made is based on a Lucie Campbell design.

I think the low number of responses has to do with this thread being in the wrong forum-- try posting in Rocky Talky. Or message the mods to have this thread moved.

Great idea- I'm off to Gray's Antiques tomorrow- will post if I see or hear anything useful re: custom work!

Also try burlington arcade in Piccadilly they have amazing antique pieces in there

beachavendrea - they do custom work, but they have to source the diamond for you. So you cant bring your own like leon mage, steven kirch etc.

Ah yes burlington arcade is really nice too!

I have come accross Jon Keith http://www.jonkeithdiamonds.co.uk/.. Have you heard of him?

Hi, I got my engagement ring from the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter and my wedding ring from Lucie Campbell. Some comments:

B'ham: it can be quite overwhelming as there are so many stores and it's difficult to do any research online. My husband had been (before he proposed) and scoped out the jewellers he felt were more... genuine. I was very pleased with my experience: the jeweller we went to spent a good couple of hours with us, explaining diamonds, showing us different colour gradings etc. I am very pleased with my engagement ring. Oh and you can haggle on prices a little bit.

Lucie Campbell: I have the scalloped diamond eternity ring. I believe they are made to order and mine took 7 weeks. Very happy with the quality and service. I did ask if they would re-set a diamond brought to them and they said no.

I hope that is helpful.

Hello,

Jan Havlik at Gray's Antique does beautiful custom work. Also I would recommend Donald Edge, I don't know where he is based now, but has contact details on his website.

Good luck!

Thanks Ladies!

I had a meeting with Anna James Jewelery. James Watson who is one of the owner, i believe the company was established by his father and called it Anna James based on the names of his kids.

Anyway he was very lovely, amazing customer service but because his office isn't a retailer there wasn't much jewelry onsite to show. But definitely someone I would trust with my ring design.

I then visited Cool Diamonds around hatton garden also. http://www.cooldiamonds.com/ I thought the process was very good, they had a portfolio of settings and a list of diamonds in stock. They show you the rings and diamonds. then they email you with the quote & certifications of the diamond. The lady wasn't as knowledgable as James Watson.. She didn't know what a millegrain was.

The ring I'm trying to design is a little less conventional in the UK. so its not quite common, what i wanted which is a pave band between 1.5mm-1.8mm. with bright-cut millegrain side around 1.5-1.8 pave band with 4 split prongs.

My ring is almost finished will definitely be done in the two weeks or so. it sounds a bit like yours maybe, although i'm not expert on the lingo. it's based on a lucie Campbell design, it has a spilt shank, diamonds up the side (pave?) and millegrain.

Anyway i'll pop pictures up when it is finished. Although i do have to wait for my husband to give it to me but i think my nagging will speed up the process.

beachavendrea I would love to see your ring once it is finish!! Cannot wait :)

Ladyroho - how did you get on with Gray's Antiques?

Sorry, I do not have a e-ring made in London Uk, I can only afford to have some very expensive jewelry right now, jewelry made in Lond Uk might be too far from me, I can only wear handmade jewelry by buying beads from Fire Mountain and Pandahall, but love the DIY one very much! Anyway, hope one day I can afford one you mentioned, and I would post it here if I can still find a post for this kind of ring. :)

I went to http://www.rennieco.com/ and the old man that serving was so nice, and very knowledgeable!!! Definitely go and see the place, its on the high street of hatton garden.

Kathness you really are on a mission! i get my ring tomorrow afternoon finally! after a 7 month wait so will post pictures asap. x

beachavendrea - I cannot wait to see your ring!!!!!!!! How exciting! :D

i've got it! but can't work out how to upload photos. Any tips?

Hope this works, took me ages to figure it out. I'm blaming baby brain.

Beachavendrea, that looks beautiful!

Daniel Prince made my cushion ring, I can recommend them.

I tend to get my diamonds from the US now, it's better value for money I find.

i got the diamond from Bonhams auction house for a great price but i think I was extra lucky that day. If i did it again, which is very unlikely, i would defiantly get the diamond from the US. There is no way we would have been able to afford the same quality of ring at London retail prices.

in case anyone is interested tom made my ring http://www.thfinejewellery.co.uk/ he runs a company based in south molton street i sent him a picture of what i wanted and then had two meetings with him. He also made me a sterling silver mould to see what it would look/feel like on my finger. I love it and it turned out perfect but i did put a lot of trust in him and wasn't so caught up in the little details.
Anyway the ring is beautifully made and he is very easy to deal with and the ring is so delicate I would highly recommend him.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! beachavendrea your ring is lovely!!!!!! Who did you use?

Hi Rosetta - I've tried to book Daniel Prince, called 3 times within the two weeks period and i was promise they were going to call me back... no one did. I tried for the 4th time and complained that i've been trying to get an appointment for two weeks and no one has returned my call and emails... the receptionist then transferred me to a guy name James. I arranged an appointment on a Saturday 10:30am (EARLY MORNING!!!), went to their office, rang the bell downstairs for 10 mins no one was picking up.... I thought the bell might be broken so i went upstairs (2nd floor) and knocked on the door for a good 10 mins and no one was answering... I called up the office and it went to voice mail....

A couple of days later Daniel Prince Emailed me saying that he was indeed on holidays for a week and hasn't been in the office.. Which is understandable everyone goes on holiday... and he then said that the bell was broken (they only realized it). Fair enough.

Anyway i thought it was unprofessional:
a) they knew I was coming at 10:30am they have my contact details etc. So, if they were really there waiting for me, they could of given me a call....

Pity as the work ive seen from them looks amazing but they lack the customer service from books.

Thanks guys, i will try and put a thread up in the show my the bling with some better pictures soon. Tom did a a great job. I have size M fingers so to have a ring look delicate on my finger is quite an accomplishment. I'm wearing it with a plain platinum band.

Also i have to point out it's an upgrade form my original engagement ring, been married for five years when i look at it I do get the 'newly engaged feeling'

Stunning beachavendrea! What a beautiful ring!

beachavendrea stunning ring! I will definitely get in touched with him :)
