Show me your imperfect jewellery

ETA @MamaBee
We married when we were 19. I wanted a 1 carat diamond, but too expensive!! My hubby surprised me with a .50 carat solitaire and then we added a .50 carat half eternity. That was perfect to me! 21FD308E-BF57-486D-B87F-E9C201B4A22B.jpeg
I wore this set for 25 years.:kiss2:

Omg @MamaBear I love your set! The diamond is so sparkly! I love your band paired with it too! Thank you for sharing it!
I had to come back to say my first diamond was .60 but the carbon inclusion took up half of the diamond! I wore it for a long time!

So I didn’t realize how much I appreciate my imperfect 3 stone until I’ve agreed to sell the stone to a good friend. I will Miss my 1 carat perfectly flawed omc. She’s on fire today! 4AB4742B-AEFA-44D1-938D-9D22C6100C36.jpeg

I would have to post 99% of my entire collection because I'm an antiques freak and a lot of my stuff is imperfect in that historically charming (IMHO) way. Most of my diamonds are I color or lower. I adore the quirkiness of old pieces, carbon inclusions and all. Except for my ACA eternity band, I don't own anything that's superideal or H&A or CBI or whatnot.

It’s so pretty @nala

I am loving this ”perfect” thread! Sometimes what speaks to a heart doesn’t follow the “rules”... thank you all for sharing your perfect pieces!

My tiny diamond. It was the first gift to me from my partner.
He put it on Layby when he was 19 and paid it off every week from his apprenticeship money.
I have worn it as a constant for the last 23yrs. It was on a snake chain with my mum gold coin ring - but the chain broke so it’s been moved to the gold ball chain until I get it fixed.
It’s tiny - but I love it - and it needs to be small so it can be worn everyday and never taken off.
Of I ever replace it with a bigger version I will have this one made into a charm from my bracelet.

This was my pre-PS ring, a learning experience for sure.... and terrible shock when I learned more about this stone! Oh well! I did love it.

But the seller (a graduate gemologist, no less) had listed it as SI3...
Riiiiiiight.

It was far too fragile to wear daily, and with the money sunk, I decided to reframe my experience with the ‘cost per wear’ strategy and set it as a pendant. Because it is an old stone, and pretty rough, I felt a Georgian silver collet would work. 4C51CF77-4C73-4967-BF44-9ACC58946C1E.jpeg
It took two rounds of hassle to get the setting right because the local jeweller didn’t read the details or look at the photos I provided. Once I got it back, it became my favorite necklace and I absolutely wear it daily, big chip and all.

Now, I know it’s an acquired taste, not to everyone’s liking, but I love it. My one complaint is that I don’t have a dozen of them. I’m considering setting a very good and much larger stone in the same style (different jeweller, though, I learned from my mistake), so that I would have a ‘mind clean’ version of the necklace. But then I think, well, what would I do with this one then!

From time to time, when I feel overwhelmed and imagine that I’ll have to sell everything I own and run far far away, I stop and remember that my favorite necklace wouldn’t sell. No one would want this stone! So I then relax a little and give myself permission to wear it forever. Just because she’s broken doesn’t mean she’s any less beautiful, as long as I love her, right? That’s how I feel anyway.

I am piggybacking on @luckyblackcat since I have the big siblings! 2 harvested wonky included feathered OMCs, pre-Victorian. Very old per my jeweler. No pattern, no shape. Just pure magic. 2 ctw, mystery color and clarity.

Those are my version of perfect. I have been looking for a pair forever.

Speaking of wonky. One of these stones is eye clean, the other has what I thought was a crack but turns out is sub-inclusion. Still beautiful and old world sparkle.

And I have so many bands that are ridiculously wonky messes.

I collect colored stones and part of the fun is that they are quirky in some way. Most have inclusions, and then some are heated for clarity, but that treatment adds a different kind of imperfection. It is nice when our stones have personality.

I agree- I feel special about the pieces I know I wouldn’t have to sell because no one would want them (sorta)

@pearaffair This is my set now. Purchased the ering before finding PriceScope...darn! She is sparkly and beautiful, my hubby picked her out. I have found I prefer round stones, so I’d like to change to an MRB again eventually. I have 3 daughters, so my thinking is they will each get a solitaire from me eventually! The eternity is a custom HPD, I’ve posted about it.

TBH all my bling is imperfect. None of the pieces I own are without imperfections. I love them still or maybe because of it.

Some of my imperfect collection. I love it imperfections and all.

Stunning. I love this ❤
The color and clarity might be a mystery but what’s not a mystery is how gorgeous these are!

I’ve just set my diamond in this setting. The pear sidestones are mushy and don’t really match the centre. I’m deciding whether or not to upgrade the pears.

But part of me (the non-neurotic part of me) still loves it just the way it is.

I know some of you have wonky old cuts, or diamonds bought pre-PS. Share your pics and stories of imperfect jewellery. Love them or hate them, they definitely happen on the bling journeys we take. C9FD9CB3-5BE2-45C3-8A29-154D725FD57F.png00BEC2D4-3AB2-42F7-ADA5-97A6D97EDDF6.jpeg

How many carats are each of the sidestones? I am slightly interested in resetting my solitaire with pear sidestones but doing it over the internet when I cant see the setting is a bit stressful.

This is a flawed neon sapphire. I still love it though!PXL_20201109_194549063.jpg

Ugh honestly hot pink stones never did it for me until I saw THIS *GASP*
The glow, the inclusions, size, shape color - I’m just infatuated! If you ever decide to sell it...

Found this 5 stone 53E0D267-3237-4E2F-84B4-E79438B4C6AC.jpegat Walmart surfing online late at night. Size 4 & two-tone. Low quality, but I enjoy it; at $500 I don’t worry about it either.

Thats a whole lot of fun for $500
good for you !

96% of people would not even guess it was from Wal-Mart

Thank you! I kinda agree. Diamonds get smudged and your hand is in motion etc. I certainly wouldn’t hand somebody a scope!

I have worn this imperfect diamond solitaire for about 20 years, and have received countless compliments on it. I got this as a wedding present from my mom, this diamond was from her first diamond purchase in the 80s, and the cert is from 1983! I Just found out how spready this diamond when I asked for the certificate, the depth is 58.5% with a 65% table! I was planning to find a matching diamond and convert the family heirloom from a pendant to earrings, but am now finding that finding such an imperfect match would be hard to find! Reviving this thread, because I just got a ring that I'm absolutely in love with it, and it is straight out of wonky-town. It's 18k, with the French eagle head hallmark. Sold as H/I, which I believe, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was some blue fluorescence. The smaller stone is super clean, but the larger stone is a mess and a half. Inclusions galore. But you know what? I've got bad vision! Even with my glasses, I can't see the inclusions when the ring is on my hand, but I can see the huge sparkle, colorful flashes, and puffy cupcake crown. s-l1600 (1).jpgb2ef9a2eb26f0d30d0523d843d261794.jpg

This project was kind of a disaster. I bought K color trillions to pair with my M color RB and the colors just hated each other.
