Show me your inexpensive basket setting?

So, as a lovely belated wedding gift "from" my dear husband,I have decided that, because I absolutely canNOT get my mind off of Ellen''''s exquisite aqua ring (Ellen--if you''''re out there, THANK YOU for inspiring me to get into the world of colored stones...your ring is my favorite on PS, which is saying a LOT because there are few that I don''''t love on here!), I am looking to replicate one, but on a budget. (My husband''''s birthstone is aquamarine, so I thought it would be a nice ode to him too

)

I am hoping to keep the setting to no more than $350...is that a challenge, or what?!

I have been posting a bit in Colored Stones about this, but I am curious if anyone has any more real-life and up-close photos of any of these settings...

1. James Allen 18k Wire Basket 2.2mm Setting

2. LOGR Princess Baguette Setting

3. Ranier Jewelers'''' Rounded Shank Solitaire (this, just based on the photo, is probably my favorite, though I haven''''t found out yet if it can be modified for my larger stone)

Or, if you have something similar that is similarly priced? I have looked around a bit, but these are the closest to what I was looking for...

This one at $330 for 18K WG looks similar to the others, but may be a bit different.

This at $370 for 18K WG has a less rounded and more tapered shank as it gets to the stone.

Hi Alli,

I have the James Allen setting you made reference to. I think it''s really beautiful and the picture on their site doesn''t do the setting justice. I''ve attached a picture of my ring which was taken by Julianna at JA. We''re both a size 6 (the diamond is a 2.42 chubby oval set east-west).

This is the first time I''ve attached a photo so I hope it works. I just wanted to let you know that the setting looks a lot more delicate IRL. The tallest part of the shank on my ring, next to the basket, measure 3mm while in the photo it looks more like 6mm.

If the photo posts I will post two other angles of the ring. Wish me luck.

Okay, so that previous photo is deceiving. The shank is very slender IRL. I''m not crazy about how the prongs turned out but this is a temporary setting for me until I decide how I''m going to halo the diamond; if I don''t halo, I want a micropave band.

I think that this setting is an amazing value / beauty for the price.

Aaaaah, sideways oval. LOVE. This is essentially what I originally wanted for my ering, what a great size the stone is for your finger! A micropave band would look lovely on that.

Thanks so much Dreamer and Redhead. The ring looks soooo much better IRL. I was thinking that if I had to make it my forever setting the only change I would make is to keep the band a uniform width, 2.2 mm, all around. The tapering on this ring is so subtle though that I don''t really mind.

PS: Dreamer, I''ve thoroughly enjoyed your recent threads on your upgrade !
