What a horrible experence gemobsessed.

Could you make a new thread on this and explain clearly what happened just for our fyi?

Jeff has been nothing but delightful to me whenever I've spoken to him but even the neciest people can act lousy! I just want to know the full story.

Well precisely because I am sure I hold an unpopular opinion and also I want to move ahead I don’t think I should start a new thread.

In all honesty he was always very curt with me... just a few moments of just being nice and polite. I never thought much of it till now. For him to go and ban me for nothing must involve some grudge. I believe he may be upset because I politely asked him many months ago to withdraw a 30 dollar bid on a topaz and frankly he obliged but was upset. Then he banned me on eBay saying they have a policy like that. One more weirdness was that I told him that Facebook doesn’t record exact moment of bidding down to the second like eBay. I suppose he didn’t like that. These are the only things I can think of.

I can assure you that he has never been delightful even though I have been more than friendly because I admire his cutting.

How many times have you cancelled a transaction, because that might have something to do with it?

I don't understand how he thinks you placed a bid and withdrew it and you say you didn't. Was your account hacked?

Surely he didn't just make it up out of completely no where.

I think he did make it up or he is mistaken. Highly doubt that Someone would hack my account and bid on a rough!

I cancelled a transaction twice -once I told you and second time was not a cancellation but an upgrade. Buying a bigger peridot from him than the one in the cart. After that he banned me on eBay and this was many many months ago.

None of this is grounds to ban me on a Facebook group with many vendors.

My many dealings with Jeff Davies (auctions, purchases and inquiries) have been easy and I have found him polite, professional and super easy to deal with - I can't help but think its a misunderstanding.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Jim McCormick, with whom I have had less than positive interactions in the past. But others here swear by him.

Actually he decided not to give me answers answer said that dealers talk. I’ve decided to just let it go now. I’ll receive this last item from him and post pics.

Hope you’re right but I still can’t buy from him or recommend him anymore.

I am not going to go into detail here but there is history involved, banning anyone from a group, eBay site or actually refusing to deal with someone is not something that is done without reason nor is it taken lightly. Outside of the FB group mentioned, there have been problems, not just with myself but also with other dealers I know.

Gemobsessed you are most welcome to post our conversation from yesterday in it's entirety.

I have been called many things in my life but never rude! and those of you on here that have actually dealt with me or even know me will verify that.

I understand Jim , has already offered you back into the auction group, with the condition that you don't bid on my items. At the end of the day there are many other auction groups/vendors and plenty of precision cutters to choose from.

I think the main fallacy with statements like this is to assume that a vendor and his friends are absolute fair arbitrators of a situation and have the absolute authority to take unilateral decisions like this with no communication given to the party who is usually in the minority.

Maybe it’s better to make groups like these only for trade groups but then many cutters will not have access to retail collectors like myself. If you make the choice to let many people join groups you have to make it fair.

Jim has sent me a a nice message explaining why he was rude in his communication to me. He was going through a personally hard time and just went with Jeffs reco. I have no hard feelings towards Jim and he has said he will let me in. I’ve declined because I don’t want to be a part of a group like this, where it feels like I won’t be heard and a few people have this much authority.

Gemobsessed I'm sorry you are stuck......... There are two sides to every story -- at this point, Jim offered you a choice to come back to the group while Jeff decided he doesn't want your business. You declined Jim's invitation to rejoin the group so this situation seems to have met it's conclusion.

I have only just discovered this as I was wondering how you managed to purchase the above Malaya garnet, when I had blocked you. You had messaged me asking me to remove the block, to which I politely declined.

it had no bearing on my suggestion to remove you from the auction group, there were other reasons for that.

It’s worth reading what I have written about the eBay block if you scroll up. It’s essentially because of one itty bitty topaz that I asked you to withdraw my bid from which you yourself agreed to do though grudgingly. That was to avoid a return that would have wasted your time as well. That’s all it took for you to ban an existing customer who had already bought from you. That ban made absolutely no sense. I asked you twice over several months to remove the block and there was no explanation. Just basically you saying no and that you are the authority. So you can see now why after being banned twice for no reason on eBay AND Facebook I am so upset, upset enough to post on this forum. You tested my patience far too much at the same time as making revenues from my business.

Yes I did after being off your page for like six months open another account. It wasn’t just for you, I have to use it to sell some old stuff. And I did use it to bypass the block. Of course that was before the whole Facebook thing happened and I rationalised thinking hey it must be some eBay rule that’s keeping me from this. I never ever thought it was a grudge you had against me otherwise why would I give you my business!! Of course now I know better.

The other transaction was a cancellation of peridot for a bigger peridot from you. Seriously what are these other vendors? I have no idea what you have been even talking about.

I didn’t call you rude, I called you curt, there’s a difference. I called Jim rude and he even messaged me why and seemed apologetic. Unfortunately I don’t have record of any other communication from you except the recent ones I which you very politely withheld information and told me I bid on something I didn’t. There is nothing polite about banning someone without even telling them and being passive aggressive about it. Saying they did “something”. You are the one not telling the story publicly NOT me. I wracked my brain writting all the transactions. Tell me what other cancelled transaction is there?

Here are the images of the conversation just for your benefit. This is what you said after I asked you why you got me banned. No idea what benefit it serves.

Are you done provoking me now? At the end of all the things you have written here hijacking my thread I still have more questions than answers.

And here is the conversation about the eBay ban in which you also say it’s two cancelled transactions (rather withdrawn) which I have corrected you on here because the peridot is not a cancellation it’s an upgrade. Between you and your son I have already had three gems before this moment when you thought to neglect that. You didn’t reply to any of the questions here which is why there is only this much conversation. Even after this I still approached you for work thinking it must be some silly eBay rule.

You know I really appreciate what you recognise as unfair- The fact no one even asked me and banned me so unilaterally. This thread was supposed to be a joyous thing and now it’s turned into some ugly fight. I was trying to just let it go when I reported the problem.
I just want to thank you for your empathy about this.
