So I’m going to ahead and call my holy grail ring a milestone piece! I had always planned to upgrade my stone to a 3 carat for my 30th anniversary of teaching. Well, it came 6 year’s early, lol! Thanks to Covid! I had to cancel dd’s graduation party, our annual vacation, and the trip to relocate DD to another state. So I took all those savings and reached out to my jeweler—on a whim, really, bc I never know with him, lol—and he came through!! I’ve decided to call it a milestone piece bc I’m celebrating that fact that DD graduated from college and is now self-sufficient!!! Woo-hoo! Done paying for college and her expenses! So I guess I have 6 years to think about another milestone piece for my 30th anniversary!

DH “proposed” again on a date significant to him, and a day that he and I will never see again in our lifetime.
He surprised me with dinner reservations at the sister restaurant where we had our Wedding Reception.
He had my ER reset with an upgrade (Lab Created Diamond), and he set my original EC (Mined) in a pendant.
This new diamond embodies our story in its dimensions.

Named after Ireland’s largest body of water, “Neaugh” (pronounced “Neh”/lNay”) is my “forever” diamond.
DH proposed (again) on 2/25/2025 with this AMAZING lab created Emerald Cut Diamond.
This is the upgrade of my dreams!

The GIA certificate is attached below.

VS1 Clarity (100% eye clean)
Excellent Polish
Excellent Symmetry
This Diamond has meaning for us within its very dimensions!
11.19 x 7.38 x 4.93

His first proposal in 2016 was extraordinary and beyond meaningful; I relive that moment often. We even revisit that same spot frequently just to experience it again & again.
Everything about my original E-Ring was a dream come true; my EC was a rare find and fit our budget at the time. DH honed in on my love for all things Art Deco and selected the setting that best suited me and the beautiful “center of attention”!
I have spent the past 8 years admiring my set anticipating the day when we could pull the trigger on the purchase of a larger diamond to mark a milestone in our lives.
I hit my half-life mark at 50 years this January (DH just turned 51 in Feb.). We have our vow renewal planned for Nov., 2026 to celebrate 10 years of marriage. DH received news that he is completely cancer-free (he was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer last year) in early February. Setting things in motion at this time in our lives just made sense, and this symbolizes our growth, love, and strength through these times as a couple. To commemorate it on a day significant to him just added sentiment to all of it.
I am beaming for so many reasons; I have so much to be grateful for, and to look at the stone that embodies our story every day brings everything together for me. I love that I can enjoy both my original Diamond and the new together; one on my finger, and the other close to my heart as a pendant.
I cannot take these things with me when my time on this Earth comes to an end, but knowing I can pass them on to my DD brings me peace. They are not mere minerals and gems; they embody the story of her parents, and she will carry a part of us throughout her life, long after we are gone.
