Share your concerns, worries, anything you want to share here...

@MakingTheGrade Yep fellow sufferer here too! Absolutely cannot function without painkillers and have had the same concerns! Heat pads are the best. Walk around with one shoved into my tracksuit bottoms and don't care if I look stupid! ;)2
Take care x

I just need to whine a little.
Since I was a teen I’ve always had terrible debilitating menstrual cramps and flows so heavy I got anemic. Things have gotten a bit better with age but I learned over the years to combat it with around the clock painkillers (Tylenol, ibuprofen, Aleve) the second I started to feel a twinge so that I could stay ahead of it and remain functional.

But now with covid I don’t want to risk accidentally masking a fever since I work as a doctor at a hospital seeing patients. So no otc painkillers for me. Am so owwwwwwwwww. Took a microwaveable heating pad to work today and drank hot tea when I could. Good news is it should only be a 2-3 day thing.

It just sucks. Ok. I’m done whining.

Oh soo sorry @MakingTheGrade so sorry you're suffering. Good idea on heating pad and hot tea. I find laying on floor on my back and pull legs to chest and rocking helps. Obviously can't do that at work. If you can get some evening primrose oil that might be a game changer! I have extremely heavy periods, also anemic, and they used to be extremely painful. After years of taking the evening primrose oil, it's still super heavy but not as painful. And the wierd thing is the more anemic one is the heavier the periods. Hang in there girl I hope you feel better soon hugs.

Worry??..China can cut off 80% of our medications and medical supplies. China can kill more Americans than the virus if they wish too.

@MakingTheGrade, I'm really sorry you're so uncomfortable and I hope you're feeling better soon. Thank you for all you do to keep people safe and healthy, and that includes risking your own heatlh to give care to your patients. <3

@AprilBaby What meals are you freezing? We actually need to clear out our small stand up freezer so we CAN freeze things. It would be great to hear some ideas. My DH is making cabbage rolls tomorrow. Would you believe he got the recipe from talking to my Baba (Ukrainian) grandmother many years ago? I can't make them. He has perfected them, haha. So much better than the original.

@lyra I’m Italian but was raised in Brooklyn, New York. I lived next to a Polish family..The mom made the best cabbage rolls...I was such a fan they always invited me over when they made them... Now I’m craving them...but I don’t have cabbage... :( That will be on my list when I venture out shopping again....:lickout:

@MeowMeow My heart goes out to you...You may have to get some food that you’re not use to because people are being so selfish. Have you tried making mixed dry beans..You can make a big pot of soup for a few dollars...Lentils are also very delicious and filling..You can throw anything else you have to stretch it like pasta, rice, carrots, tomatoes.. etc. It goes a long way....Hopefully your regular food will become available soon.. Big hugs...You're a great mom....<3

I am terrified of my husband getting sick. He has respiratory issues. I'm only going to put this here once. It is my biggest fear, that something happens to him. Obviously he's trying to shield me, because today he told our oldest daughter where to find all of his important papers, insurance, that sort of thing. I can't really think about this, so I'm just going to distract myself now.

xxxxxooooo

I love making these big pots of soup, and use chicken broth, lemon juice, a little (green tabasco) hot sauce and pepper. Usually make a couple of days worth at a time, but end up eating the whole thing in one day. LOL

I bought four bags before I went to Maryland...I took one bag out after talking about soup...I don’t have lemon juice but plan on putting a large can of crushed tomatoes...chicken broth, celery, carrots, garlic and spices...yummmmm......

One of the things I’m worried about are our prescriptions...David’s refill will be due in three weeks. I planned on driving back to Pa...picking it up through the drive through....pick up supplies from the Pa house and drive back to Maryland. If they do a shelter in place order for Maryland or Pa I don’t think I can leave and come back. My husband said he can pick it up and drive it here because he has some kind of letter from the government allowing him to move freely. I hope so..I also worry that they will have our meds when we need them.

This is a big worry for me too. If some of us cannot get our meds we can become casualties of Covid 19 without even contracting the disease. :(

My mom is under incredible chronic pain due to her conditions and our rheumatologist has closed his office as he is sick. Anyway she was running out of her pain meds and left a message with service and 2 days later her rheumatologist had filled for her a 2 month supply of pain meds. Thank goodness.

I hope everyone who needs their meds can get their meds.

Haven’t started cooking here today yet, please send some over… What spices are you adding?

@MeowMeow the public schools in my town are closed of course, however they are maintaining the free breakfast and free lunch program. Anyone whose kids are part of that program still continue to get their meals. They are being prepared and ready to go, you just have to able/willing to come get them. I thought it is worth mentioning in case your schools are doing the same and your child can benefit from that.

Either way, I hope people calm the eff down about food. Enough already. It's adding such an unnecessary element of stress and despair to an already awful situation and in and of itself is hurting so many people.

Shelter in place allows for going to get necessary medications. Also many cvs/rite aid places can transfer prescriptions to someplace closer to you or your doc can call it in to a closer pharmacy.

Me too - yes to lentil soup, will probably make that next week along with a homemade red sauce - yum! Yesterday I made banana bread

Thank you @MakingTheGrade! I was able to refill David’s Abilify today a little bit less than one month early! My husband is picking that up today..fingers crossed it isn’t a mistake by them...and sending it to me by FedEx ..We have a bunch of others that will need to be refilled later..but having all of David’s prescriptions okay for three months will be a huge weight off..

They’re going in water tonight before I go to bed. I’m making the soup tomorrow. I have every spice imaginable in Pa..I have to see what spices I have here in Maryland. I can’t put anything too hot in there because my mom will have some too. I’ll take a pic of it tomorrow. If you want some I’ll send some your way!

I had a really blue day today. My DH is taking things badly. He's said things like he's fine with dying, because his respiratory problems are so bad he wouldn't survive. He told my DD1 the same. I'm okay in my little isolation bubble with my brain off, but this just sent me spiralling.

DD1 and I have been sick for quite a while. I think it will be 2 weeks on Saturday for me. I hope what I'm feeling now (headache, stomach ache, minor amount of dizziness and residual ear pain) is just from the clavulin. It's also given me a yeast infection. Woohoo. Can't take the cure until I'm done the meds.

Anyway, really had to vent. We're all scared in this house.

@lyra hopefully your DH was having a bad day. We all have those. These are challenging times. But we will not give up. One day at a time. Continued good wishes being sent your and your family's way and I hope you and DD1 feel all better very soon.

I want to share a poem with you that touched my heart.

"When this is over, may we never again take for granted

A handshake with a stranger

Full shelves at the store

Conversations with neighbors

A crowded theater

Friday night out

The taste of communion

A routine checkup

The school rush each morning

Coffee with a friend

The stadium roaring

Each deep breath

A boring Tuesday

Life itself.

When this ends

may we find

that we have become

more like the people

we wanted to be

we were called to be

we hoped to be

and may we stay

that way — better

for each other

because of the worst."

Thanks @missy . I know things could be so much worse. At this point I'd rather just have the disease and get it over with, but I would never want to jeopardize my family either. I guess a lot of people feel like this. Maybe everyone does at some point.

@lyra I have moments of peaceful calm mixed with moments of sheer panic. I am scared too but I am trying to remain hopeful and calm because that is within my control and the other stuff not so much.

We have a very close friend who is a pulmonologist and they are giving anti malaria meds to the worst patients and he said they are helping! But he also said they are running out of anti-malaria meds so now they are going to have to decrease the dosage so more people can get it. That is concerning. He also said (but we all know this) they are out of so many supplies. But what I want to share with you is that hope that the anti malaria meds can help those who are sickest.

And I push from my brain the thought of doctors/admin having to make life and death decisions if we run out of ventilators and meds. That sickens me. So I hope that resources will be supplied and somehow we get more ventilators so everyone who needs it can have it and that a successful treatment is found soon for Covid-19 or at least one that helps the sickest survive.
