I find the best ones so beautiful, plus they sparkle, unlike most round cuts of Columbian emerald! Here's the new Cecilia ring from CRD with a center Russian emerald, hauynes, trillion Brazilian paraibas, and the most vibrant Afghani emerald I bought from Yvonne. All gems, plus the ring design, are from CRD.

CRD has another ring for sale, and the video there shows also my two Cecilias Yvonne made for me.

Has anyone else set their jewelry using Russian or Afghani emeralds?

This is my Russian (Siberian), no oil, Emerald. It was my grandmothers and the ring was made in the late 1800s/early 1900s. It was passed down to my mother and now mine. It's the ring that started my obsession with all things that glitter and shine. My mum wore it nearly every day for over 30 years and how it's survived unscathed I'll never know! It's a truly neon looking Emerald and is virtually jardin clear and eye clean.

Wow that is an incredible piece. I adore emeralds.

Now that I'm viewing it on the big screen - aka- my laptop (and not my phone), I'm second guessing myself. It appears that the inclusions are affecting the color display. Would love to hear from others on this.

This is glorious. And for it to be an heirloom too?? I'm speechless.

The Green Goddess! 5.36 ct unoiled, from the Ural Mountain region. The jardin looks very apparent here, but in real life it is a very clean stone. I know you're not supposed to love any of your children more than the the others... but I think this really is my favorite piece... :cheeky:

That is an amazing emerald! It's probably held up so well because of the hardness and lack of inclusions! Very inspiring and worthy of inspiring many more to love glitter and shine!

The color is vibrant, and that's what matters the most. I mean, I wear my ruby e-ring with my band, and it is included, but I notice the inclusion (black speck) only 1% of the time. I doubt anyone you come across irl will notice the inclusions and you really won't know whether they will bother you unless you try it in person.

Wow, that's a well-cut minty beauty! The sidestones are perfectly proportioned.

Jewelry on the way...Just purchased this beautiful ring this morning. I'll get her in about six weeks because I have chunky carrots for fingers.

Do inclusions bother you in general? The majority of emeralds have jardin and it's actually quite rare to find one that's eye clean. My suggestion is to withhold judgement until the ring arrives. If they bother you then is there a returns policy? To be honest, it looks gorgeous but I do understand what you're saying

Thank you voce! It's the color is generally a bit darker / deeper in real life (this picture was taking in full sun), but I really love how "refreshing" it is!

LD - thanks for your input. First, they will take it back if I'm not happy, they're great that way, even though it's custom (sizing). I know that most emeralds have jardin in them, but after looking at the video again, I'm just worried that those inclusions wll result in constant dark spots regardless of the angle. It's a Panjshir emerald from Afghanistan. The color is what drew me to it, I likened it to that of a Muzo emerald. I guess I'll wait and see.

Anyone else, feel free to chime in, I welcome discussion.

Dee*Jay - absolutely gorgeous stone and ring. I'm in love.

Wrong place I know but I just saw this on Lang and thought someone was playing a prank on @voce because ALL THE STONES ARE THE SAME COLOR! :lol-2:

Such a beauty! Do you have a thread for it? I would really love to see more of it.

Here is the thread on the Green Goddess!

And thank you DAF!

Here's a couple of emerald-in-matrix specimens from the Panjshir Valley in Afghanistan:
758531698791

The first one has an amazingly vivid and saturated green colour on the larger crystals, and the second one is smaller with a paler coloured crystal but it is more gemmy. There are better specimens out there but they are out of my budget!

No oil Russian (Ural Mts) from CRD in a preloved setting from @Niel .

Sparkly, saturated and super vibrant. Visually, it has many of the attributes I associate with a top paraibs tourmaline. The stone isn't large but catches your eye. My mother says it's too pretty and people will think it's fake :p

Oh good grief... I cannot even deal with this ring right now.

What?! No way... that thing is beaming!! Way cleaner than anything you'll find in Colombian material. It's f a b u l o u s!!

You ladies are changing my mind on Russian and Afghan material... I have always been strictly a Colombia girl!!

Question... what is the general consensus around these parts with regard to Zambian and Ethiopian material? Out of the 4 (including Russian and Afghan), which is the most collectible/valuable? My knowledge sort of begins and ends with Colombian material. TIA!

Here are my two Russian emeralds alongside my .95 J/VS2 checkerboard-y transitional diamond. David Klass made the 18K white gold setting for me. Happy, happy.

This needs its own, dedicated thread! ❤️
