Even though I only had this setting made for my pear last year, the repair work that was carried out in the New Year is bothering me. It now sports a rather clumsy V-prong that doesn't flow & although is study, its wonky & the solder isn't smooth. It REALLY bothers me as I wear my rings all the time. Also where the v-prong area was heated, the shoulders of the ring have ever so slightly curved forwards towards it & are no longer straight. But I am finished with this jeweler & don't want to speak with them again :angryfire:

As I turn the big 40 next year, last night my husband suggested we had a whole new setting made from scratch, incorporating the small princess cut diamonds from my original engagement ring. So now I'm sketching!

Does anyone have a pear with unusual sides? Anyone with traps, half moons & princess cuts in the band? I am using this opportunity to bling my ring into possibly its last incarnation. I have 3 x 3mm princess cuts & 8 x 2.5mm princess cuts to possibly be incorporated :wink2:

i find three stone pears look best with a halo to tie them all together

Another halo one. I think a three stone would be stunning with a colored stone halo. Like a sapphire or emerald

How about using the princess stones as graduated side stones.... Use 2 of the 3mm stones as the side stones and then channel set 4 of the 2.5 mm stones on each side?

So none of these designs have side stones but I don't see why they can't be incoporated into the shank.

For me personally I would probably not use them in a pear ring but incorporate them into a wedding eternity band or something similar to match the pear.

Anyhow I know this is not exactly what you asked for but thought perhaps it might give you options.

I knew you ladies would be wicked at this :appl:

Loving the ideas! And already there are things here that I would NEVER have dreamed of or imagined up

Mine is a necklace, and not a ring ... but if you've ever thought about bezeling, allow me to reinforce the notion. Bezels look great on shapes with points, and provide a lot of protection. The illusion of additional size is a nice bonus!

Niel - loving the tapered baguette one, only I would taper them into the princess cuts all sitting in a graduated channel without the pave halo.

Taylorbug - the first one you posted is what I originally thought: a baguette or trap either side of the pear, followed by the princesses.

Circe . never thought of bezeling?? Hmmm.... More ideas to think through with my sketch book!
