Boom they accomplish EVERYTHING you wanted. Elegant. Much more low-key than the high polish - in that size the high polish is just so bold. And no clip visible at all, ever!! I didn’t know that you’d had the clips in your smalls removed. Will you ever wear the smalls, now that you have these!? The pave looks so beautiful on you. And with those pearls... Will you wear them with your ring!? I’m actually having my SA hold onto mine until I can go up to see her in-person - it’s in her safe waiting for me!! I can’t get over how amazing the combo looks laying out in your hand And they look so *easy* on you. Like you could wear them all day everyday, no trouble. I know that VCA pave is a blingfest in-person!! But the YG definitely mutes the #InYourFace-edness in your pics. Oh they’re perfect. They’re completely perfect.

I had the clips on the small Frivoles removed when I bought them in Paris years ago. The clips were pulling my earlobes up as my ear holes were higher and they were very visible from the front. The pins are a little short and I find them hard to put on so they will probably be going to my daughter who has daintier ears than me.


I asked for thinner and longer posts for this pair and they are much more comfortable and stay up better than the plain ones.


I would totally wear the Frivole BTF ring with these earrings, I don't think it's too much especially since I mostly wear my hair down and only glimpses of the earrings are seen.

Thanks for the extra pictures and info. I too have a more robust earlobe with high piercings and really struggle with the van cleef omega clip. I think I’ll ask my SA about the removal of the clip as I quote fancy a pair of vintage Alhambra earrings.

Can I ask a couple of questions about the clip removal? I actually thought about requesting this alteration on the small size, exact same as yours!! But I had some questions and it would have been a pricey alteration - too expensive to justify trying without more information.

Do you have any trouble with the flowers spinning on your ear, without the clips to keep them oriented vertically?

And do you have any trouble with the weight? I was struggling with this… On the one hand a post is much lighter than the omega clip system, the total earring weight must be reduced quite dramatically! But on the other hand - my large pearls tend to want to flop forward on my ear, they’re very front-heavy, even though total weight isn’t terribly high... How do your small Frivole do for you?

The flowers don't spin in my ear but that could be because the posts are shorter and thicker. I checked my emails and I found that I did bring this issue up to my SA (10 years ago!) and she told me they could easily replace the posts but I kept forgetting to get them done.

In certain orientations, the flowers do flip forward so I just twist them until they lay flat against my earlobes and they stay in that position until I remove them. HTH!

It seems a bit redundant since I have the YG guilloche and the hammered WG. I may or may not have a deposit on a 5-motif YG WMOP as well... Furthermore, I have other shinies (both VCA and non-VCA) on my wishlist.

OTOH, it goes so well with the GMOP pendant and the 5-motif WMOP. Plus, it's really pretty and so low maintenance. And NGL, it being a harder to find piece adds to its appeal. I'm worried that if I get rid of it now, I may have a hard time getting ahold of one again in the future if I want it again.

It’s such a low maintenance piece and different enough from YG guilloche that *I* would personally keep it. I also think it looks super chic layered with the WG hammered one if you don’t mind mixing metals.

Low maintenance and “generic” - goes with everything else in YG from VCA. The guilloche is totally different - much more specific, less generalist.

IMO you’ve got fab staples that you can build with. Great way to start a wearable collection!!

Unpopular opinion here.. I do think it's similar to the the YG guilloche bracelet. Why not return it and buy something a little different with color or even just the YG MOP bracelet?

So… Let’s be honest… Some folks start with the coloured stones but inevitably get into neutrals and pave eventually, and those of us who start with the neutrals or pave will inevitably move to colour - just a matter of time

I have the wg and yg 5 motifs and I am keeping them both due to the reason @yssie mentioned....they will go with almost every other wg or yg VCA piece you eventually buy. My yg one was my first VCA piece, and then I switched over to wg. I have bought one yg and one rg bracelet and sold both soon after as I wasn't sure I wanted to start collecting in those other metals! But I still keep my yg one since it is definitely one of the oldest, iconic Ahambra pieces!

With that in mind…I’m supposed to be on Ban Island at least temporarily….but….how, hypothetically, would one go about getting a hammered white gold 5 motif bracelet? Is it a special order? It is gorgeous! I have read that WG guilloche will be a thing in November, but the WG hammered is stunning and would be so easy to wear.
