Show Me your Wedding Sets - A 2013 Edition!

I have been married for 10 years and have changed my wedding set up many times! Usually buying pre-owned so I could turn around and sell it for what I paid when I felt "done" with that set. Well, 7 months ago, I fell in love! It was extremely unexpected because I had always judged my "tinted" diamonds so harshly. I paid retail for this one, so I could probably NEVER sell it without losing big time...but so far I haven't wanted to even think of it! When I first purchased, I had decided I could never find a band to go with it unless I had something custom made. Since I'd just dropped 15k on the ring itself, I was nowhere near ready to purchase anything expensive. I randomly came across this band in a casino jewelry store of all places!! It's not a perfect match, but it's close enough to look like they belong IMO. Only $300 for the band so I snatched it up!! It's my little secret that the ring is platinum and the band is 14k :)

Inspired by (but not duplicating) the "Tiffany soleste"... This is my pride and joy!!

Center oval diamond specs taken from GIA report
9.56 x 6.50 x 3.87
1.71 ct
Natural, Fancy Light Yellow
Even
VS1
Strong Blue Fluorescence (this one made me hesitate a bit, but I haven't been sorry I purchased)

That is one of the prettiest yellow diamond rings I've ever seen! I love it! What is your finger size? It is perfectly proportioned.

Thank you so much! My finger is between 6.5 and 7. The engagement ring itself is a 6.5 and the band is a 7. This is mostly due to me not wanting to touch the size of the engagement ring and possibly lose the integrity of the setting. One of my favorite things about this ring is how low it sits to my finger. It looks like it would be set really high, but its absolutely not! When my mom saw it in person for the first time she told me how much more beautiful it looked in person because she thought the picture made it appear bulky when in reality it is very comfortable and even a bit dainty. I'm including pics (sorry so dark) of the side view and bottom as well to show how it looks from all sides. I actually just had that hole put into the middle of the yellow gold in the bottom. My VS1 was starting to look like an I1 after 6 months of wear and soap residue getting into those decorative holes, but no way to get it out! Now that I can clean the diamond, it looks brand new again!

P.S.- I hope I'm doing this "quote" thing right.

Very, very pretty!

Hathalove- what a lovely set! Love that stack with the rolling rings in it!

And a great big ole puffy <3 for the FLY!!!

I have one other set to add. For our anniversary hubby gave us antique (Victorian) matching bands. We were going to use them as RHR's but his ended up slightly too big for his RH and mine is slightly too small for my RH but they both fit on our left hands fine. Since they are fairly delicate and have enamel inlay, I don't really want to mess with them so we are wearing them as alternate WB when we want to match (our actual WB don't match) or when I am being "down-key". yeah, I've just had to accept that this is as down key as I get.

So I wear the band with one of my two opal rings and a YG channel set eternity. I'll try to post the other opal ring too. (need a pic)

ETA:

Here's the matching man's band and my Victorian opal ring with it. (I was so exited we got matchies!!!) The tiny little diamonds in between the opals are teeny tiny full cut OMC's!!! TINY TINY little culets!

Wow, I'm loving everyone's sets!!

My current set is nowhere near as creative or unique as many of yours, but I love it all the same:

Bastetcat - I wish I knew you in real life. I love your jewelry so much I can't help but think we'd be friends. (There are several PSers I feel this way about. Circe, SB, Yssie, Niel...). Needless to say, I love your opal sets too!

Agreed! I'm feeling the love in this thread ::)

Love all your stuff b cat for some reason I always feel like your hand makes you look like a gypsy. In a good way!

Aww- Thank you Rosebloom and Niel! I guess the countless hours I've spent (um, spend) looking through PS threads appear to have paid off a little and I have (somewhat) successfully re-directed my ornate tendencies. Fortunately, Mr. Bcat has also become accustomed to a little "personal adornment" and also prefers vintage (nothing past about 1960 in men's rings) unless it's mokume or a tension setting so I'm in good company! Two peas in a pod!

ETA Rosebloom - You have a good eye. I am pretty certain these two rings came to us via Circe. :)

Here's what I've got going on today. My set changes all the time because I hoard wedding bands and reset my 1.07ct pretty often. Temporary vintage style illusion setting with 2 vintage platinum bands.

Thanks! I love it too, I just prefer having the bands sit more flush than the box allows. I love, love, love your whole set. Simple haloed OEC, bands, everything.

I've come to really like the little bit of space between rings. It gives it a certain...je ne sais quoi... :naughty:

Love your ring. So simple and beautiful... Can you tell me where you found your setting and who set your stone? Was it a reasonable price?

I found a setting I liked made by Daniel M on etsy but the price was a little high for me since it was going to be a temporary ring. I contacted Poppyseed off the bistro because she works with Amcor Design. She gave me a quote of $300 including setting it, so I went with them. It was done in the time period promised and I am happy with it, if I would have done it again I would have liked it set a little bit higher. Oh and the price is for 14kt gold.
