Catmom I haven't seen your beautiful collection around here in a while. Love both pairs of earrings!

Why thank you innerkitten! How about another pair of earrings? I've been on an earring spree lately, lol.......

These are FLY radiants, .35ct or so apiece

Another beautiful pair :) Yellow is actually my favorite color for diamonds.

BTW very OT, but how are the cats you were taking care of?

Thanks innerkitten, I like yellow diamonds a lot as well.......

The cats are doing fine thank you for asking! As a testament to spay and release programs, my feral colony is now down to 2 cats from a whopping 11-15 at one point. It may take a while but the program does work!

Catmom, where, oh where, do you find such lovely settings?

Chrono, I love your stones. The sapphire is so blue, what is the origin? And the diamonds... oh.

Enerchi, that is how we all started... Good that you found better stones now!

Origin of the sapphire? I don't know. I did get it checked out by the lab to be sure it is real and with only plain heat treatment, but the brief came back as unheated!

Glad to hear it!

...it is a very clean pezzottaite. Even the name is fascinating, sounds like mezzo-soprano to me :)

It certainly sings very sweetly for such a little 'un and It sounds as though you have plenty of ideas for all those lovely pairs :))

I think that tiny raspberry cab is just yummy tooooo!

This is my absolute favourite little 'un. It's a Jeremejevite. 0.68ct. It really is this colour - I had a suntan hence the brown hands!

:appl: It's gorgeous and would give any equivalent sapphire a run for it''s money.

It looks remarkably clean for a jeremejevite, and the colour looks good too. And when I praise the colour and clarity, it is because most of the jeremejevite I've seen offered online has been washed out and included. I suspect that because it is such a rare mineral, even material that isn't really beautiful is cut and sold at high prices.

What a beautiful stone, LD!

oh i wanna play i wanna play...great thread, and great stones everyone!!

i have a bag of tiny stones, basically because I can't afford larger ones... :errrr:
and sorry the pic is not good, don't have my compact camera with me, which is able to shoot micro

I was thinking of making a stack ring, but...it seems there are now too many of them
I am thinking of making a tiny-colored-stone-by-the-yard necklace...
well, just thinking...

That is a very pretty collection, babydoll_mini - could you name them? I especially like the chartreuse pear, the red cushion next to it, and the matching greens.

oops, forgot to do that, thanks!
So they are:

1.29ct chrysoberyl ; 1.08ct spinel ; 1.3ct tsavorite ; 1.6ctw tsavorite pair

0.97ct zircon ; 0.88ct tsavorite ; 0.84ct spinel

0.61ct tsavorite ; 0.44ct tsavorite ; 1.51ctw chrysoberyl ; 1.5ctw spinel pair

Your little ones are so lovely, babydoll! They look so bright and delicate in their box. I think a diamond by the yard look would be very nice. Or a set of layered pendants, to go along with stacking rings.

and I blame this thread...now I'm tempted to buy this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/370607402094?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

anyone, thoughts on this please?

Did you buy that sapphire? The colour is very good but it is going to need a custom setting. The shape is very fat and rounded, plus the depth is almost 90% which will not fit any calibrated setting.

Diamonds by the yard is an excellent idea for the stones. I saw an advertisement on the back page of a glossy magazine once showing such a necklace made up of multicoloured FCDs, each one surrounded by a halo of colourless diamonds.

Thanks Lady_Disdain and Chrono! Yes I bought that sapphire, otherwise...I would be the one crying here that it was snatched by someone else :) Oooooh, I think HALO-ed-colored-stone-by-the-yards is brilliant idea, all different stones wearing the same uniform... haha

Thanks again!

I can't share a picture with you guys, but I will say that a certain sapphire from Brad is on its way to me. Cute, small and reddish purple - yumm!

How do you get your digital camera to take macro pictures like that up close of objects that small without it looking all fuzzy?

I bought a really nice Nikon Coolpix 8700 superzoom camera in late 2005, it has 8mp, which at that time was higher than most SLR's, and it has Nikkor lenses and 8x zoom. For the first year or so, the macro setting worked well, and I could take close pictures of flowers and such, but then for no apparent reason, it suddenly stopped taking clear pics on macro or any other setting up close. I have to be at least 2 feet away now to get it to focus.

I could not get it to take a good up close picture of a gem at this point.

Sounds like your macro setting is defective. Time to get a new camera, me thinks. :naughty:

Even with macro, I am roughly two feet away from the stones. Any closer and my shadow blocks the light, plus my camera will not focus. I am using a 10 year old camera as well. Once I take the picture, I have to crop it using either Paint or some other MS software. Once cropped, viola! I have a large magnified picture ready to post. To prevent fuzziness (or the shaking hand syndrome), either use a tripod or lean or arm/hand/whatever against a solid object because the slightest movement will create a blurry picture. The newer cameras have the anti-vibration built-in when using other features like macro.
