My jewellers think your large one is probably from Ceylon too
No scientific reason why...beyond they don't really see comparable colour from the mines that are producing during their industry lifetime.
But considering many mines are mined out, if it's really old, then they wouldn't have seen one within their lifetime too.
Just like cflutist's mum jadeite pendant. They can tell from the pics that it's really old. Utility jade. But I've never seen utility jade this green during my stint here
It was pure luck to find them both in one Summer. I’d been looking forever before. I agree, sapphires hosting other crystals is amazing. They could even be sapphires within a sapphire. This is going to sound new agey, but I believe crystals within crystals add to the energy of the stones lol.Sorry. Typo. Need = Based.
Yes! No more stunning watery translucent large ones here. I'm yet too see one like yours!
Lol I couldn't help thinking. Because yours is a large cab, you don't even need a loupe to check out the tiny inclusions!
They could be spinel, zircon, apatite, so much more. Amazing that a gemstone is host to so many other minerals and entities

I definitely am with her. Between my 2 large stars, the @19 carat one has no eye visible inclusions or striations, but I like the energy of the larger one a bit more, even though I delight at the flawlessness of the smaller one. It’s a subtle thing, but I’m sensitive to it. This is why I don’t wear certain stones, even though they are beautiful, because the energy hasn’t meshed with me well. My jeweler was so wonderful, ( before she retired to commissioned custom work only) and would let me borrow pieces for a few days to feel them out, in style and otherwise, so I could get a sense of the spirit of the stone before purchasing. This gave me a good idea about how I would feel about some gems.I think so too. Or else lessen the dominant energy of the host rock
My mum certainly believes in it!
The star was magnificently sumptuous and large. Just amazing to see on. Too bad there was never a closeup. But even from afar and in black and white, it made such an impression! You are right, @stracci2000, it was this same one.,.Ok @stracci2000 , I’m about to watch it!
She wore it in every single scene!

Awe, thanks, @stracci2000 ! I’m flattered that you think so!She wore it in every single scene!
Even in her nightgown...a girl after my own heart!
And @Bluegemz, your gorgeous large star is just as fabulous, and was once probably also owned by Hollywood royalty!
Gosh, sorry to hear that! A few questions...do you still love it now? Would you love it more if it were smaller without the chip? How would you feel if it fell apart? Would it still be beautiful without the star as it is now if you had it recut? I think first it should be examined by someone experienced enough with stars to assess the strength of the stone re fractures, and rutile.I have a question for everyone. I have worn a star Burmese ruby ring every day for over 10 years. It was about 5.8 cts when I had it set deep into a ring so only the very top was showing. I hit it a couple of months ago and took a bout .25ct chunk out of it. It still looks good from a distance and has a beautiful star. To recut it I would mean cutting down to about 3 cts and no guarantee the star would stay nice or that it would fall apart. Do you think I should take the chance?
I don’t think so either. It would be a shame to have to reconstruct the whole ring of you had it recut. I think it’s lovely!
Thank you. I don't think I could replace the ring if anything happened at today's prices. I had the ruby AGL certified years ago as a 5.86 ct non treated Mogok stone of classic color. I paid $6,000 for the stone when Thaigem first started about 16 to 17 years ago and can't afford to replace it at today's prices.
That’s such a beautiful little Star. It’s frosty looking with a great sheen!
It could be much worse after 10 years of constant wear. It still has it’s ‘soul’ and I personally had to look closely to see it. It’s not distracting in first impressions from your pictures in my opinion. Also, it carries a story of life and a loved and worn piece. It was 5.86 cts before I chipped it. I had it set deep on the ring to protect the stone but I guess that didn't work out to well.
I just noticed that your star ruby has a pink star! That is very special!
Agnes Moorehead has nuthin' on @Bluegemz!
Thank you. It is special to me since I was born in Burma I wanted a special stone from there but left when I was 2 1/2 years old.I just noticed that your star ruby has a pink star! That is very special!
