Hello:

Looking at this forum for years and finally got to search for my dream diamond. Read somewhere that SI1 clarity could be flawless to the eye and the most important thing on a diamond is the cut. Could somebody enlighten me about SI1 clarity? My budget is no more than 15K for a 1.8-2 ct loose round diamond. I found a diamond that seems to be good on paper, any thoughts? Also when it comes to pricing. will a local jewelry store be able to get a GIA diamond shown on an online site?

GIA report 1505862069

Thank you :)

It all depends on the characteristics, size and location of the inclusions in an SI1 graded diamond as to whether or not it is “eye clean”.
My original Earth Mined EC received a disappointing SI2 clarity grade, but it was “eye clean” due to the hidden inclusions and clear characteristics of the inclusions. It was also 1.07ct, so one would need to really look closely to even try to find the inclusions within.

Si1 are great !!! Even a small crystal on the table is very hard to see even with a GIA plot telling you where to look... Small bonus besides the lower price is with magnification you can always recognize your diamond by it's freckle (cant be switched out w/lab etc...)

Maybe merge this with your other thread? Then people can compare the stones that you are looking at.
